Does anyone else not feel the flutter/fib?

I don't have a PM yet (I have to call the doctor to schedule the procedure), but have had attrial fib and/or flutter for at least two years. I am a relatively active person and know that my heart sometimes goes crazy while working out because I see it in my heart rate monitor (prior to being diagnosed I attributed the fluctuations in the monitor to "interference"). I have to admit that I do not feel, at all, when my heart rate goes from 70 to 150 and back. I do not feel when my heart rate dro...

A Fib and Flecainide

Well guys I am 4 months post PM implant and had my first
A Fib episode this weekend. It sucked! Lucky for me my EP was on call and at the hospital when I arrived.

I was up and down between 140 and 80 beats per min. Scary stuff.

I got the PM for Vasovagal Syncope and now this crap comes along. They gave me Flecainide and I converted back into sinus rythm.

The EP sent me home with Flecainide 50 mg every 12 hours. Has anyone taken this drug and is it effecti...

AV node ablation - piece of cake

Considering all the heart caths and ablations I've been through, I have to say that the AV node ablation was the easiest procedure I've ever had (once I got past the psychological part of being dependent on the pacemaker). I even went out for pizza and a beer, just 4 hours after I was out of bed - the beer was strictly medicinal, since I have to increase the amount of blood thinner in my body ;-)

My healing seems to be quicker than with the other ablations, I guess because the proced...

AV Node Ablation Tomorrow

Hi friends. Just wanted to let you know that my AV node ablation is tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous, but feel good about my decision to have this done. After 5 ablations and every anti-arrhythmia medicine known to man, I think I've exhausted all my other options. It's scary to think about being 100% dependent on the pacemaker, but I'm sure I'll get used to the idea. The a-fib has taken over my life the past several months and I'm ready to take it back! Wish me luck!

SVT

Has anyone had any luck with a natural treatment for SVT? Herbal supplements, dietary changes, anything like that? I've been getting episodes more frequently the last few months. My doc mentioned meds but it's not dangerous and doesn't bother me enough to go down that road yet, he didn't push it. Aside from the annoying feeling, the biggest problem is it keeps me from getting a good workout. I can still work out, but I can't push hard and work up a good sweat anymore because my hr gets too high...

just back from my cath

Hi Friends,

I posted several times over the last few weeks. Too make a long story short, it all began with my last pm check which show a few short times of fast beats.

That lead to an echo, then those results lead to a chemical stress test. That showed an area in the front of the heart that was a concern with circulation. Next a heart cath was order.
This morning I had that cath.

Thank the good Lord...I have no blockages or areas of concerns!
They to...

Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Hello everyone, I had my ICD implanted on November 11th of this year and this site has been incredible in helping me adjust to it and the changes it has brought to my life both good and bad. I'm writing now because of the underlying condition that precipitated the need for the ICD, my cardiomyopathy. In 2.5 years I have had no contact with other dilated cardiomyopathy patients and have never found a site anywhere near as comprehensive for DC as this site is for ICD/PM recipients. Never knowin...

Terrified At 19!!!!

I am 20 years old now. I was 19 when I got my pacemaker. It all started with an earache. My mom and I went to my MD. My MD noticed that I had a low heart rate (40 BPM). In which I never paid any mind to before. So I go to work that night and working in telemetry I put myself on the monitor. That morning I was put in the hospital with a 3rd degree Heart Block. My cardiologist did not know what to do. So they sent me home until I passed out behind the wheel of my car receiving only 4 stitc...

High Blood Pressure

I need some help understanding how High Blood Pressure is treated if the individual has been diagnosed with Vaso Depressive or Vagal Vagal disorder. The Vaso Vagal dialation of Blood Vessels cause slow heart rythm and low blood pressure that causes periodic fainting.

My problem is that I have the Vaso Depressive diagnosis which led to a PM. Additionally, I have high blood pressure with a 145/95 average. My EP states that any drug that dialates blood vessels will increase the number of...

results of tests-send me your prayers

Hi Friends,

I posted recently about finding fast beats during a PM check on 11/5.

From there, I had an echo and then a chemical stress test.
My cardiologist called me this morning. They saw a small area in the front of my heart that is not circulating properly. So I am off to have a cath done on Monday at 6:15 AM.

My personality is such that I will be worried and scared to death.
I can't help it because that is just me. I know that if something g...

Coreg CR

I had a pacemaker implanted a little over a week ago. My cardiologist prescribed 20mg of Coreg CR yesterday. I took it last night and today I feel as crummy as I did before my PM was implanted. For that one week, from the time the PM was implanted untiil yesterday I felt on top of the world. I walked a mile or two every day. It was great.

Has anyone else been prescribed Coreg CR, and if you did, how did it affect you? I feel crappy today, no energy, low bloor pressure (68/42 this...

Drop in Blood Pressure

I had an imaging stress test today. My Dr ordered it after he interrogated my pacer. I was complaining about having a racing heart rate. The odd thing was although I could feel my heart race, my pulse was at 60bpm. He said I was having PVC's and wanted me to take the stress test. I have a bad knee so the Dr said he would give me a chemical I.V.to increase my heart rate and I would only need to do 4 min on the treadmill. As soon as my heart rate increased my blood pressure decreased. I almo...

Who takes a statin?

The only statin I've been able to tolerate is Crestor which I'm currently taking.I've read so much conflicting info regarding the recent study that showed that Crestor reduced inflammation in the body. It also caused a significant rise in diabetes among those taking it & that scares me. I feel myself craving sweets more all the time which sure isn't helping my weight any. I also take fish oil daily (2400 mgs) & that is known to reduce cholestrol. During a heart cath in June the cardio doc said m...

AV node ablation

Once again I am turning to my friends on this website for some help. I'm facing an AV node ablation after years of various arrhythmia medications and 5 ablations for afib and flutter. Amiodarone was the only medicine that worked for an extended period of time, but now I'm breaking through that.

My questions to you are: was it successful - I've heard it can the AV node can grow back? how does it impact the battery life of your pacemaker (just got mine less than a year ago)? did you...

loop monitor

Follow up: the doctor changed his mind from medication (which is what he told my spouse when I had my EP study) to there is no medication and he now wants to do a internal loop monitor to ensure that my dizziness is from slow heart rate. I was wondering if anyone had this procedure and what to expect.

Thanks!
