Have had a PM about a year and a half. I have had tendency to get kidney stones. Does anyone know if having a lithotripsy to disolve the stone is possible? Does it affect the PM?

Are any of you old enough to remember "Dr Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery" that was painted on the sides of barns all over the mid west? Then the FDA came along and shut down all those kind of charltons and gave us the approved charltons that sell their wares on TV.
I saw an ad for some med just now on TV and an image of a barn jumped out at me from when I was probably 7-10 yrs.

Hi friends hope all is going well for all of you. I had a ER visit that went horrible after having a lot of chest pressure for a week a couple people finally talked me into going and getting it checked out.
I found out nothing in the hospital and they did nothing for me besides the nurses telling me get in as soon as I could in the morning.
I got my pm settings all changed around and went to my regular Dr where they were able to tell me more. I have a built up inflamation around...

Hi Everyone---
I'm not subject to edema, but the other nite I looked at my feet & legs & they were very swollen, and my right foot was completely bruised, (dark blue) There was no cause for the bruising and no pain connected with it. Just wondering if anyone has any info on that?? I do have a Medtronic Pacemaker.
Thanks in advance for any info---

I have had a monitor set up via land phone line since I had my pacemaker Sept 2008. At a designated time every 24 hours it sends report to Biotronics, pacemaker mfg. For some reason they quit receiving reoports on 9/5/09 (coincidentally that is exactly one year from my implant date). They sent me a new monitor, we have checked double checked to see that it is connected properly - pretty eze phone line from monitor to wall phone jack, and phone line to house phone (altho this is not required f...

OK, many of us are taking a hand full of meds!!! Is anyone using Detox supplements? Are they a hoax. Dr. Sinatra, Cardiologist is recommending them(he sells them) It has been said that the body never completely breaks the meds down?? Your input always appreciated!

For those of you who have tried different beta blockers, which have the least side effects? Do they all make you tired? How about weight gain?
If a drug has a list of ten side effects, I'll probably get nine of them! I can't even take an aspirin without side effects. Just one of the many reasons I have resisted any attempt to be put on meds! I really do not want to do this, have not in fact decided to do it yet, but the dr wants me to try a low dose because my resting rate is over 1...

Hello,
My mother got her pacemaker a year ago and at the regular checkup the doctor didn't really put any effort in explaining what the values the pacemaker gave mean. I was wondering what does it mean if AP-VS percentage is high?

I've had my PM for about 2 1/2 weeks now and have also been on sotalol and digoxin for the same period of time. My PM was inserted to resolve my bradycardia and is set to about 70 bpm for my normal rest level. I have no upper limit set on my PM.
I've also been told I have a moderate to high probability of going into flutter again (which is what originally sent me to the hospital about 3 months ago -- the very start of my heart problems).
I am being treated medically for...

Hello All, It has been a very long time since i have been on this wonderful site. I have a kinda crazy question.... I have had 2 people tell me already that having a pacemaker and taking beta blockers causes CHF. What are your thoughts on this? Is it a bunch of bull or is there another thing to possibly worry about down the road? Just curious because i do take beta's and have a pacer, Not gonna let it worry me if it were true but just thought i would ask.....Thanks

Guess what? I tried acupuncture the other day (as in yesterday morning) and well...I HAVEN'T FELT THIS GOOD IN YEARS!!!!! I stopped taking my meds due to a general lack of them working a few days ago and yet since the acupuncture treatment, I have not had an irregular beat, my blood pressure has gone down and my heart has started reacting to exercise the way it is suppose to again! I go in again for another treatment on Thursday and it should take awhile for long term results, but I am amazed...

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here takes antibiotics for the heart. I recently had an ear infections and I had to take antibiotics for the infection. In some weird way, my heart function a lot better with fewer extra heart beats.
My question to anyone here, is antibiotics good for the heart. I once saw on the news a Doctor stated that people having heart disease should take antibiotics, but, I never pay any attention to it until after this last ear infection when I was given antibi...

A few weeks ago I posted saying that I felt really bad, with skipped beats and a 'heavy' heartbeat etc. I went to A&E and the ECG there showed nothing, and when the cardiology technician interrogated the PM he didn't find anything either, so I tried to ignore it after that. Well, it continued to happen and yesterday it happened so badly that my heart raced and raced and I thought it would burst out of my chest so I knew something was wrong. Today I saw the technician and when he interrogated the...

Larry goes in October 6 to the Mayo Clinic to be evaluated for a heart transplant. They are going to do an X-ray and ekg and who know what other tests and then he gets to talk to the Doctors. Can they do the x-ray when you have an ICD? I think I saw some place that they could.
I thought my nerves were shot when he was getting the pacemaker, but that was nothing compared to this.

I have had my dual chamber pacemaker for over 3 years now and about 18 months ago I started experiencing pvc's. They are increasing in frequency now and I experience them sometimes as much as 10 in one minute, but usually just 3-5 in a minute.
Does anyone have any advice about how I can change this?
I stopped drinking coffee completely and I rarely drink alcohol.

I currently have a Medtronic Dual Respose pacemaker implanted for Bradycardia. Slow heartbeat that dropped at one time to 18 beats per minute which led to a pacemaker being implanted.
I am 70 years old and my Urologist wants to put me on Flomax to control my frequent trips to the bathroom. Flomax has a history and warnings that it can drop my blood pressure and heart beat and lead to fainting for some patients.
Does anyone have a similar condition and take Flomax? What dosage? Any prob...
