Need advice regarding settings - again

I posted before and your suggestions given were increase base rate and turn on rate response.

Saw the doctor in June, who noticed I was straight pacing at 60.  He turned on my rate response but did not seem to want to change my base rate.  2 weeks later got a call I had a pacemaker clinic appt, at  that time they changed my base rate to 65.  From that day on my nights have been perfect.  Sleeping through the night, no waking up and no...

Wondering if I need a rate adjustment?

I've had a PM since 2010 due to bradycardia. My current PM is a Boston Scientific, the low setting is at 60 bpm. and has been forever. I am very active and walk a brisk 20-minute mile every morning with no side effects, no SOB, etc. and have a lot of energy for my age -- 85.

This started a few  months ago..... After eating dinner I normally sit down a watch a little TV or read. Within a very few mintes I find myself sound asleep... actually cannot keep my eyes open or hold...

Trying again...

Pacemaker since 5/28/2020. Due to LBBB and complete heart block. First device check showed Atrial pacing at 5.9% and Ventricle pacing at 93.7%.

Today the nurse at my clinic called to say all looked good. No arrhthymias and my atrial pacing was 18.2% and Ventricle pacing at 13.0%.

I asked her to recheck the numbers and she did. She noted the high percentage in the RV last time but s...

Problems with Settings

I received my last pacemaker Boston Sci L321 Model  in January 2016.  I'm paced almost 96-98% of the time.  When I first received my this device, I had a problem with my heart racing when I rolled over in bed or moved my body a certain way.  Almost like the pacer was too sensitive to body movement.  Basically they turned the sensitivity on the device way down and for a long time, I kind of chalked up being tired and SOB when exercising and doing stairs as being ou...

BPM has changed with my new pacemaker

Had my first pacemaker replaced a few months ago. It had always paced me at 60 BPM, rarely ever changing. I note my new pacemaker (same brand) paces me sometimes as high as 80 BPM, with the average around 70. Recently, I have had episodes of breathlessness and when I do the finger check for oxygen and BPM, oxygen is always good (between 98 and 99), but BPM is high 70's or more. Is this normal, given my previous pacer. My surgeon did tell me that I am now 100 percent depende...

Feeling the pace

Hi

It's me again sorry to keep going on about this topic.

How many of you can feel when you are pacing? I don't mean the bit of a flutter when it starts, it's the real thump of the heart beat in the chest and neck, for those of you that do have this do u learn to ignore it.

Not going in to the history of it all as I am on here so often these days people must be fed up. But not a newbie to PM now have one lead and need to know if its possible to accept these...

Quick surges of rapid heart rate

Since last visit to cardiologist and having device check i’ve been experiencing rapid heart rates off on on throughout the day. Sometimes when doing nothing but sitting and then when involved with movement that in the past would not have been considered taxing.  Wondering if settings could have been changed on pacemaker?  I will be contacting doctor but I’m interested in knowing if the tech who does checking on pacemaker does anything other than set heart rate?  Min...

Settings changed

Hi

So took your advice and went back to my old hospital for a second opinion.

On my last box change the new hospital changed my settings to 50bpm instead of 60bpm as they had been for 23years also they turned off a damaged lead and didn't replace it saying I didn't need it.

Tec today wasn't happy with what they have done but says I am OK without the other lead but she is going to speak to her boss and come back to me.

My PM has now been set at 6...

St. Jude device check

A week ago I had a very strange visit in my cardiology office.  I questioned to myself that it had been scheduled on-line without consulting me but I see this group so infrequently that I assumed it was routine and it was not.  5 1/2 weeks after my nighttime device check I was summoned to their office to be told from their device technicians that there was something wrong with my pc.  If I had known this was not routine I would have asked someone to go with me to be "my ea...

Changing Drs.

I have Bradycardia and have lived with afib for more than a decade.  So far, I've had two ablations and two cardioversions, the latest about three years ago.  I'm now in afib again, and all I know at this point is that my PM is prompting the ventrical to beat.  My current cardiologist (not an EB) concealed from me this fact when a remote download showed it.

I've no idea what my resting HR is, as we set my PM to prevent rates lower than that.  When I...

Medtronic Settings for athletes with Sick Sinus tachy Brady?

Hi I am a 51 year old female who loves to run, lift weights, bike and do Pilates.  I am confused about the rate response setting and wondering if there are any other settings that might help someone who is very active? After the first day having my PM I felt great but didn't like that I would go to 110 just causally walking a hill so they said they could turn that of RR and they did.  Well today I don't feel as much energy and more tired and thinking I made a big mistak...

Can Heart Rate Actually Drop Below The Base Rate of a Pacemaker

The Heart Analyzer app on my iWatch (Series 5) reports daily occurrences of heart rate in the low to mid-40s even though the base rate on my pacemake (St Jude PM2240) is set for 50. Is this an artifact of the app or is it an indication that my pacemaker is not functioning properly?

Heart rate

I'm in my 80's and am on my second pacemaker which is now in its 13th year. Consequently the frequency of my checkups have gone from one year to six months down to three monthls for the last two. In March I was told the battery had 18 months. My next check was delayed ( presumably due to Covid) until last Friday when the technician told me the Battery had one year remaining and they would see me in six months. Later that day I noticed on my Apple Watch that my heart rate was around 60...

90 day review

Still pretty new with my St Jude 2 lead PM installed for complete heart block...Bradycardia.  Just had my 90 day review...I think the tech just changed my HR with instructions from my Cardiologist from 60 to 70 BPM.  My cardiologist also wanted to make sure the rate response was turned on...the tech said it was already on.  I then asked if it could be turned to more sensitive which is what my doc had asked for.  He said again it was already on, so I’m not sure it tha...

Voltage and pumping capacity

Does anyone know if the setting of the voltage is related in anyway to more or less pumping capacity?  Typically doctors like the lowest possible setting in order to increase the longevity of the battery.  So setting it higher would diminish the life of the battery.  A higher setting however,  if in any way related to  the pumping capacity,  might improve exercise tolerance.

I’m sure some of my brilliant pacemaker friends know something about thi...

Pacemaker

I have had my pacemaker for 3 weeks. I have had it checked 3 times by my team at hospital. They insist there is nothing wrong with the pacemaker.

so, why am I still so dizzy and having palpitations? I just don't feel any better.

i am now being monitored at home with a at Jude box by my bed.

i just wish I felt better. I even feel dizzy sitting down.

Any ideas I would be very grateful.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
