Great

Hi

Took on board all the comments about rapid response. I went back to the cardiologist saying about the fast heart rate and how I was feeling. I have been fined tuned - he turned down the response and as soon as I got off the table I felt that awful feeling in my stomach gone. Also went for a walk this afternoon and not one funny session.

I have been put on a tablet for a month as well - sort of beta blocker - and am due to see him again on the 22nd Feb.

Doctor's visit

Hi All

Just been to visit the doctor. I am at present living in France and that is where my PM was inserted by the cardiologist here. There was no explanation as to what I was to expect or feel. I have written before here saying how stressed I am now that my heart is beating faster.

Anyway, saw the doc and explained my concerns albeit that I broke down and started crying. He said that he was going to check with the cardiologist as to what sort of pacemaker I have...

Does anybody know??

Does anyone know what the "ADL" setting is on the PM readout sheet? Mine is set at 95. I tried to ask the doctor but he just said in essence "never mind it's not important". In nursing lingo "ADL" refers to "Activities of Daily Living". Any help from all you PM gurus out there would be appreciated. Your Pacer Friend, Carol

First Interrogation

I had my first interrogation today. Everything looked good according to my Doc. The estimated remaining battery life is 9.75 to 10 years. I am pacing 94% of the time. Max pulse was 94 bpm which had to be during my exercise time. Settings: min 60, max 130, rate response on fast, recovery time medium.

I advised my Doc that I am still having a few episodes of light headed and slightly dizzy. He informed me that the pacer would not cure this. I was somewhat surprised by that comment....

Pacemaker syndrome

Hi all,
Just curioius if anyone has had pacemaker syndrome immediately after a pacemaker interrogation? Or feel like the technician left the battery on your chest when you left the office? I went back and had three adjustments, but it looks like I will have to live with the sensation of my heart beating in my stomache, lightheadedness, pain in neck, etc... Any suggestions?
Thanks for the info?

Change in base setting affecting sleep?

I would love to hear from those of you that have had your base setting turned up. My son is almost 18 months old and has a pacemaker. Because of his young age, he cannot tell me what is going on. He has an EnPulse dual chamber, rate responsive Medtronic pacemaker. However, the atrial lead is fractured, so he is only being paced ventricularly (sp?) and it is set to motion. A very young child functions a bit differently than an adult b/c he doesn't engage in any sustained aerobic activity and...

Racing Heart

Hi, I am new to the forum, I am 45 and had my pm for 5 years. Has anyone experienced a racing heart while driving? I guess it was like a panic attack and I it took a little while to calm down. Do you think I just need my pm adjusted? I have a checkup this week.

Had adenosine stress test last 2 days

What an experience! I could not walk the treadmill because I have injured my right leg falling down some steps. The first day, Monday, they had me scheduled for a dobutamine test. A few minutes into the test, the nurse and I were just conversing about a few things, and I mentioned I had an ascending thoracic anerurysm at 5.0. She went pale, and went for the doctor. Apparently, a person with an aneurysm is not supposed to have a dobutamine stress test. SO, they stopped it and told me to come back...

Phone Check?

I have my first 6 month phone check tomorrow and I was wanting to know if it feels the same as when you go to the office and the tech is there. I am nervous about it. Does it feel the same? I know this sounds dumb. Do they tell you anything after it is done or how do you now what is going on or should I say isn't? Thanks for any help.

Cancelled appointment update

Most of you will have read my posting last Friday concerning my cancelled 6 week check last Friday... Here's an update...

I received my new appointment yesterday - 15th February, that's another 6 weeks. This morning I went to my own GP who advised me not to travel until I have had that 6 week check. He advised me to phone the clinic again and if they couldn't give me an earlier appointment then to tell them that they have to book me into the local private clinic. So I phone them at...

Cancelled appointment

Just got back from Ipswich Hospital for what was meant to be my 6 week check up.
I say was meant to be because when I got there the clinic had been cancelled!! They have my home, work & mobile phone numbers but chose to leave a measage on my home number after I left for work at 8.30am. When I asked why they didn't phone my mobile they say they are not allowed to because of cost!! So why take it to start with? It may have been a 60p phone call to them but has just cost me 2 hours, hubby 2 ho...

What HR does a stethoscope pick up?

My son is 17 months old and has had a Medtronic EnPulse dual chamber, rate responsive pacer his whole life due to complete congenital heart block. So while the atrial part of his heart works pretty well, the ventrical part does not ... because the atrial cannot communicate at all with the ventrical. His ventrical rate (which the doctors refer to as his underlying heart rate) is average 43 bpm. So when his pacemaker is working well, his natural atrial rate might be 150 and his natural ventrica...

Pacemaker Data capacity

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how many days or moths data can be stored in a typical pacer? I am stationed overseas and the local doctor says to come in every 3 to 4 months. My family doctor said about every 6 months. Last time I had the pacemaker read the doctor wrote a report stating "normal functioning of the pacemaker." Isn't there something that can be downloaded, some sort of report?
Thanks for your help.

Check Up

Well after getting lots of help from Blake I was finally able to sign back into my account. I just wanted to let everyone know that I had my 2week check up on Wens. 19th and the Doc said that everything was going ok. I had a slight infection from where my incision had torn a little but other then that the pm is doing its job. In the 14 days that I had my pm I had used it 154 times. It seemed like a lot to me but the doctors said that there was nothing to worry about as long as I was doin...

RateResponse?

I have a two lead biotronic pm and have 100% dependency because of a av node ablation due to atrial fibrillation. I have a wiggly sensation or as I have called it worms or vibration in my chest and in my back when I wake up; in the morning or when I have been resting in the afternoon. They have my pm set a 75 and 135 which is higher (they say ) because of the 100% dependency. I have heard that they can set the rate response to a lower setting if you have such a thing on your pace maker. Doe...
