Rapid Thumping Sensations in Chest

Any tips or info so much appreciated. Perhaps I am just distrustful but I am not sure what is happening.

I received PM 5 wks ago. Per follow up readings I think I had A fib (?) for 5 days but dr is not worried since it was not severe and nothing in past 3 weeks. Hearing though per techs that I am having A Tach, V Tach, and AV Tach. Not sure what all of that means. The one that seems to be of most concen is the one I do not seem to feel, whatever happened on 8/25 thru 8/30.

Hey thanks for your replies!!!! few more queries i have if you can help it out... if electrophysiolgist consults the relevant company for pacemaker implantation do they get any profit from these companies or so..and the primary doctor which has asked the patient to go to concerned EP.. they must be getting some amount of cut from the company right??? you said you are having pacemaker implanted can i know of which company it is???

This is my first post, so please excuse me if I am asking something that I am sure has been addressed many times before. I am a Florida resident but live in RI during the summer months. A.M.S. episodes

Hi everyone,
Went for pacer check-up a few days ago, still pacing 99% ventrically, atrial rate up from 2.6% to nearly 4%. Tecnician said everything o.k., but I am a bit concerned. Had 7 A.M.S episodes when heart rate went to 150 0dd bpm on 6 occasions, and 256 bpm on one accasion! These only last approx 6 secs, one lasted 8 secs. I know that the A.M.S disconnects the ventricle from the atria when this happens and paces it at about 85 bpm until the heart rate comes down again . What I want...

What am I Missing

I have a bi-ventricular/icd pacer,Medtronic Concerto. I have,at times, diaphragm stimulation that is very painful. I had an episode Mon. followed by some muscle twitching on the left side. It was unclear to me if it was muscle or heart, so I asked to Transmit which I did yesterday. Get pacer/defibrilator checkup, how ofter, where,

Any tried and true suggestions for interviewing for a cardiac doctor?

How much should it cost for a check up for pacer-defib and what questions to ask to find a good doctor to do this?

How often should this be done? Is a year too long a time?

Hubby has a St Jude pacer-defirbrillator since 2006, no shocks yet from it.

We had an overall checkup at the GP's last week, all ok on paper.

When I was implanted with this wonderful pacer of mine 8/08, I was set to pace at 60bpm. In April '09, I couldn't tolerate the rate of 60 anymore as it put me into an accelerated junctional escape rhythm with AV dissociation. The reps were called in and we turned my rate up to 70bpm.

Fast forward 4 months, and I am back at square one. Now I can't tolerate my low rate at 70 and my cardiologist is going to suggest to my EP to have my rate turned...

Health Care

I was curious how PM care works in the countries with socialized medicine. Are you happy with the care?

I am self employed and pay a lot for health insurance. But I wasn't billed much at all for either of my two PM surgeries. I chronically miss my PM appointments and am always rescheduling as my work is very dynamic. This has never a problem. my mom has a Metronic Adapta Pacemaker since July and she has been having heart palpitations and her pulse sometimes gets a bit high...she also complains about feeling the pacemaker kicks in... and it being a really uncomfortable and hard to describe strange feeling...shes discussed these concerns with the doctor but he says that theres not much he can do about these issues.....because the pacemaker is put in to avoid fainting and that some people just experience these...

Thanks and technical advice needed

First of all I wanted to say thanks to all of you who gave me advice 3 weeks ago about having my first pacemaker fitted. It was great to hear from people who have had real experience of them, rather than the medical staff who just tell you what to expect. hate this feeling

So as I have posted the last couple weeks I have had some complications post AV node ablation (particulary pericarditis). I spent 2 hours in the cardiology office last week and ended up coming out with a new mode of pacing. I feel absolutely terrible with this new mode. I have a question about the pacer checkup (interogation). Can an checkup (interogation) be read incorrectly? I had a checkup in late June. I have a dual lead Metronic pacemaker for 3rd degree heart block and have had it for 6-1/2 years now. Who has stopped seeing the cardiologist?

Maybe I went back to work too quick, but I think I am at the end of a 40 hr week. I barely make it thru the day and I don't function well when I am at work.

At home, I can't do normal work like cooking, cleaning, laundry and the yard work I loved is too difficult.

The cardio does not seem to be helping, his offer was to increase the proamtine which has bad side effects.
