I am a 56 years old, offshore worker working as Elect'l and Inst. Technician in oil and gas installation with a symptomatic slow heart rate which will go down to 25BPM. Usually my working environment are mostly in switchgear room with 35KV power supply, welding environment, Unterruptible power supply and oil and gas platform. Two weeks after my PM implantation ( MEDTRONIC, MODEL ENSURA DR MRI SURE SCAN, MRI COMPATIBLE. I undergo for my company required annual...
I have a PM and I am now 100% paced. I fly ultralight aircraft from time to time. I have checked power ratings for comms radio and transponder and concluded that the radio at 7W will not cause an interference problem but the transponder at 130W would be a problem. I no longer fly in aircraft where a transponder is fitted or I make sure it is turned off. Has anyone else come across this issue ?
I know this has been covered before (I've read a few topics) but I just wanted to share my experience.
Shortly after my pacemaker implant (100% dependant - my former doc accidentally ablated my AV node... another story for another time) I got a new job. It started out as a desk/IT job. Any electrical work was low-voltate or data/signal cabling. Once my boss realized I know electrical, he asked me if I would take the test to be a licensed electrician (Lake County, IN) and... I am in...
I was recently replacing some common houshold outlets with new ones when I accidentallty got a pretty good shock. It arced my pliers pretty good a caused a lot of sparking and smoke. I recollected my nerves and went on to replace several others. Well I managed to shock myself again, but the usual vibrating type of sensation that you immediately pull back from. It may just be coincidence, but later that evening I began feeling sick to the point where my body ached all over....
The Kardiaband clearly states Do Not use if you have a pacemaker or an ICD. I HAVE THE AliveCor mobile device and I have had it for years, never a problem with it or my cell phone. Many of these warnings are just the manufacturer covering their butts from law suits.
My instinct says there won’t be a problem but the Apple Watch is a$300 plus investment and the KardiaBand another$199. Does anyone have any issues using these devices?
i ignore all the warnings on...
The various Dyson vacum cleaners seem to have magnets in their motor. I am trying to find out if
their magnetic fieisld presents a risk to PM? Anyone have any experience or information on that topic? Thanks
Just wondering if anyone else has found if Boston Lattitude Communicator interferes with Computer WIFI?
We have a range extender in our house and our internet keeps dropping out, we cant seem to find the source of the problem..... our service provider wondered if my PM would be interfering with it?
I'm 75 yrs old and physicially active. My experience with a PM has changed my life. It has taught me how volunerable and fleeting my life can be. I work out 4 times a week; my work-outs are vigorious but never over the top. I'm very much aware that my lifting today is very different then my pre PM implants days.
This is what happened.
I was at a meeting with a group of men I know quite well after the meeting ended as I was preparing to leav...
Thought I'd post this as a snippet of useful information: after having my PM fitted 5 weeks ago I should think almost everyone and his cousin have told me you CANNOT use a TENS machine now. But I spoke with my cardiologist yesterday and he said it could be true for some machines but not all and the safest way to know is to get cardiac pacing to check it out. So he sent me there and they had me apply the electrodes and start it up so she could watch it on her machine and what do you know?...
I will be getting a two lead Pacemaker in the next week or two and have a couple questions. #1-I wear a Fitbit Charge 2 (on left arm) will this cause any problems. #-2 The band is a metal band with a small magnet use to secure the band, will this cause a problem? Thanks in advance for your help.
Whenever I drive my car (a Honda Fit), I get heart palpitations. Medtronic can't tell me why. Anyone else experience this?
I had my ICD implanted March 20, 2018. I also purchased a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A just before the surgery
While reading in bed I noticed a slight change in my heart rythm but did not think much about it.
Today I placed the tablet on a steel table to charge it and discovered that it was sticking to the table.
It has quite a strong magnet in the case and I immediately stopped using it.
I will go back to the clinic to see if there have been any changes to...
I'm planning a trip to Disney World and have a crt-d. I have read some comments about the magic bands being a problem if you have a pacemaker or defib. Has anyone checked on this or used one themselves? Thanks!
Hi, I had Sudden Cardiac Arrest last June and have a Boston Scientific D140 ICD as a result. I'm getting back into exercise and I've heard mixed feedback on interference with activity trackers such as a fitbit, etc. Can anyone share their experience or knowledge on whether such activity trackers are a conflict or are safe for use.
I'd really appreciate it.
I just joined this site since I am interested in finding out more about pacemakers for my mom - she is 81, and was told by her cardiologist to "start thinking about a PM". She has been in constant AFIB since December, is short of breath whenever she moves, and has worn a monitor a couple of times since December which show her heart rate ranges over the course of the day from the 20's during sleep to the 140's during the day. She has never been receptive to...
I'm starting a restoration project on old bronco that will need some welding done. I know stick welders are not acceptable but how about wire welders, MIG welders? Also will the alternators cause issues?
Don't know if this has been addressed on this forum before. If it has, I haven't seen it. Don't mean to be alarmist, but this has occured to me ever since I had my pacemaker placed 2 years ago this month. So I'm passing this info along as I think all of us with implantible devices should have a heads-up. Sorry if it causes any undue stress, but I feel we all should be aware of any possibilities.
Check out the main story at the link below and there...
I work with oil burners with transformers, hand and table power tools, battery-powered lifts, generators, air conditioners, furnaces, etc. I also do all my own work on my boat, truck and Harley. Does anyone know if I can continue this work without getting shocked by my ICD? What precautions need to be taken? Is there any way to shield ourselves from the EMF? I ordered an EMF meter but I'm not sure what levels of gauss is damaging to my ICD. Anyone know...
Hello, I am 100 percent paced due to complete heart block. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems from weighing themselves. On my last checkup I have some irregularities and I am wondering if this could be the problem as the irregularities are on the same date as I got weighed.
Getting a PM implanted next Monday. So what about electronic devices like blow dryers, microwave ovens, reading on a iPad....???
