I am off to Florida in November but on the 3rd August im having a ICD fitted and i wondered if there will be a problem for me going on most of the rides in the parks, im going to Universal, magic kingdom etc?
Is it best to check before i queue and show my pacemaker card that i will be given at the hospital before i leave?
Thanks Sharon

Hello All,
I am new to the "Club". I got a Medtronic Adapta L implanted on June 17th. I may be wrong, but I don't think so -- my necklace seems to "stick" to the pacemaker site. I am guessing that it generates some level of electromagnetic field.
Does anyone else experience that, am I crazy or neurotic?
If you do, can the metal (Gold) cause any ill effect.
Thanks for any responses. I think this site is wonderful, and have read many of the wonderful...

and planning on putting in a house generator in case of loss of power. We are building in the country and Com Ed is famous for it LOL
The placement of the generator will be outside of my master bath along the private deck we have there. My bed will be on the opposite side of the room and i'm sure i won't be soaking in the tub during a power outage, but while discussing the generator with our electrician, the thought crossed my mind as to weather the generator would interfere with my PM.

Does anyone have any experience with the Osun pace alert? It can be found under 'Affiliates'. There was a post back in 2008 but nothing since.

My daughter's neighbor just sold his property to the power company. They are going to put in a high voltage transfer station. She believes it is 274 volts?, but not sure. I have a new PM that was put in may of this year (2010). I am 50 years old and very new to the PM concept. Can anyone help me with any information about being around one of these high voltage transfer stations? They are looking at her property as a buffer zone. If they put the station in, can I still visit her at her home?

Just wanted to let everyone know (that might be planning some summer amusement park fun) that I went the other day & didn't experience ANY thing at all!!
I even rode a roller coaster!!
We went with a few of the grandkids to Kings Island & had a blast!!!
6 & 1/2 hours of fun in the sun!! LOL
I was a bit nervous because I have read different opinions, etc. So was quite happy that I didn't feel anything with the PM.

Hello everyone. I'm Cher and 60 yrs. old. Just found this website this morning. I had my St. Jude's PM put in 2/15/10 and had to have the lead reattached to my heart on 2/16/10. I have healed pretty well. I have a couple of questions for everyone. I happened to think - I have my yearly mammogram scheduled for September. I'm thinking I won't have any more of those? Also, for about 3 weeks now, my left thumb hurts to move it back and forth, have pain in upper left arm, my left shoulder is...

Hello Everyone!
I hope all of you are making progress and growing stronger.
It's been awhile since I've checked in...had my CRT-D implant on December 9th...so far so good.
Question: I bought one of those Portable Emergency Generators that will jump start your car (600amps), inflate your tires, recharge your IPOD, run you laptop with a USB port...and run AC appliances up to 400watts.
Well, I was wondering if anyone with an ICD/Pacemaker has any experie...

With my jewelry making I wonder am I safe to use a Dremmel to drill my polished stones? Also, I use CPAP and sometimes feel the electrical vibrations through my chest. Is that o.k? How about my cordless house phone? I already know about cell phones.

This will be my final message. The Pacemaker Club doesn't need me and I will say the same for the Pacemaker Club
It seems I posted something today about the Obamacare bill that was passed last night that didn't pass muster. I didn't think it was anything derogatory. It was the address for a film clip I found on Youtube. So far as I know it did not cause any rude exchanges. Don't see how it could have since it was visible for only a few hours.

Before I got my pacemaker I of course asked the obvious question about microwaves, haha. But we began talking about things, like cells phones only on the side that doesnt have the pacemaker magnets and not to put my ipod in a shirt pocket, but the jean pocket. He also told me about sound systems. But its been 7 months and I was so stressed back then I don't really remember what he said. He said not to be to close I think. Well my brother loves loud music, so he always has his music up loud and i...

Hello! I'm supposed to be going to Six Flaggs in San Antonio with my fiance soon, but I've heard mixed responses if I should go on roller coasters or not. I've heard no because some roller coasters are controlled by magnets in the motor and it can mess with my ICD's settings. I've also heard no because of the shoulder harness used on some thrill rides. I'm a pretty small girl, I don't really have any fat or much muscle over my ICD, so I read the harness could do harm. I have also heard everythin...

Reading about all the things that interfere with PMs, I haven't seen anything about invisible (electical) fences.
I have one neighbor who has his turned up to the maximum because his dogs are bad and will go right through. Anyone hear about any problems going near one or through one?

Since I was told I have A-fib, I have looked for a device to tell me. I want to know more about the situations leading up to an A-fib incident, and to know when the incidents stop. I'm not able to pin it down on my own, without some kind of equipment. I've tried to make Medtronic make a device to give me a continous reading from the PM, but they don't seem to be interested.
However, I've found to small EKG monitors: ReadMyHeart and InstantCheck, from DailyCare. They're a poor substi...

I am an active PM wearer for SSS. I need to reliably measure the static and/or dynamic magnetic fields that I expect to encounter at work and play. I am willing to purchase the proper device to make the measurements. Is there anyone in the PaceMaker Club that can/will advise me of an appropriate device?
I a tired of being told "You can't get around that or the other tool item because the magnetic field MIGHT exceed 0.1mT (1G)" or the converse of "There's NO problem with that mass...

I'm still new to this only had the PM for 6 weeks, any advice would be great, as I have to go back in 1 week for phase 2 of drilling and more than likely another x-ray... I have a PM checkup tomorrow, so will ask there, but I don't seem to get definitive answers ab...

Thanks to everyone. I agree with all of your comments...and really appreciate the feedback. I keep wondering if I should make a formal complaint as I know I asked at least 5 (and actually closer to 10) tines if there was someone available who deals with pacemakers. They never did. The next day, the pacemaker guy said they have someone available 24 hours a day and could have been reached. I get so frustrated with getting contradictory answers from the professionals.
Plus, I am not a p...

I was in the hospital Monday night for a throat infection which was bleeding. My BP was high so they put me on the monitors. My HR was at 132 for two straight hours in ER. They put me on a portable ECG monitor to do a cat-scan thinking I may have bleeding in stomach from taking plavix and aspirin. My pulse dropped immediately to 70 on the portable as soon as the other machine was disconnected. They hooked it back up and both the portable and the wall machine jumped to 132. During cat-scan,...
