I never thought that I was a "space cadet" but today I really have to wonder about myself. Here is what happened....
As some of you know, I am a graphic artist and I have a small print shop. Sometimes I have to order materials for clients from other sources. Today a big box arrived via UPS. It wasn't scheduled to arrive until next Monday, but it appeared today. I had not a clue as to what was in the package. So I began to struggle with the tape and cardboard holding it against my c...

Hi!
I am about to purchase my first set of hearing aids and I would like them to have the Blue Tooth streamer accessory because cell phone usage when driving is forbidden where I live and I find it is a darn nuisance, not say dangerous, when in heavy traffic. However, the microphone streamer device I would like to purchase to go with my aids to make them active with my cell phone, is made to hang from the neck and obviously very close to my pacemaker. Does anyone have any experience o...

I've only just been fitted with my pm. Noticed palpitation type buzzing in chest on journey home from hospital. It happens whenever I travel in our Jag which is 5yrs old. It has an onboard computer with sat nav and hands free bluetooth telephone. Am I getting interference? Haven't driven yet as I'm still in 1st 7days since implantation.
Has anyone had a similar ex[perience?

Hello Everyone,
I have had 2 pacemakers put in recently, the first was removed due to one of the leads perferating my heart wall. I feel much better and am back to work at a small fab plant. I have noticed that while I am at work I begin feeling pressure in my chest and sigh alot. Almost like I can't take a deep enough breath. The feeling dissipates when I leave work. We have welders in the back of the plant and I avoid that area but I guess I am wondering if there's enough else...

I asked the management of the shopping complex how much electro-magnetic energy was being generated by the six antennas. They did not know. PMs and this type of energy are not good friends.

Does anyone have any experience of pm interference from their Sattelite Navigatgion System? I recently bought one and I'm pretty sure if interferes with my pacemaker as I feel a lot of AF when it's on. It could of course be something else that needs addressing, but I'd be interested to have your comments, thanks.
Asystole?

Does anyone know of a pacemaker setting or complication that would make hospital heart monitors think you are in asystole when you are not? I ended up in the hospital after another (!) fainting spell and the alarm would not stop going off. It kept saying I was in asystole. This is not the first time that's happened in various ERs so I was wondering if maybe there's something with my PM that is interfering with the monitoring. I'm pretty sure I wasn't actually in asystole.

I have just received an ICD implant and the only concern that I have, so far, is the warning about keeping the ICD at least 24 inches away from a ceramic top stove when a cooking element is turned on. This means no more cooking for me - which would be quite a disappointment. Can anyone comment on their experiences with ICD and ceramic top stoves ? Is the make/model of stove relevant ?
Thanks,
Dave

This afternoon I stopped by the local hospital records dept to pick up the results of a routine blood screening. While I was waiting in the familiar office I noticed that the entire wall where I was standing is a main electrical panel for the hospital wing. Being the electronic type I am I took a close look at some of the main circuit breakers. Nothing big...only 400Amp 3 phase or so!
I was about to mention it to the clerk and ask if they had any problem with pacemakers near it, but d...

Hi everyone,
Have been really knocked with severe sciatica. I've been using a small tens on my lower back with no problem. Does anyone know about Enar treatment? Similar but supposedly better than Tens. Desperate to avoid back surgery.

Thanks for the input on the transformers. Im still trying to learn what will bother me and what wont. What about my fishing boat motor? Im talking about a small fishing boat where you sit right next to the motor. I was wondering if this would be a concern more so because it has a magneto in the motor as opposed to a coil/distributor.

I have been out of work since I recieved my pacemaker in February. Hoping to get back soon, but I am concerned with electrical transformers that we have in back corridors and in the numerous stores at the mall I work at. I sometimes am required to work next to them getting meter reads, resetting breakers etc. any idea if these will cause me problems. I know I can't go into the electrical substations with the big transformers, but what about these? I am pretty much totally dependent on my pm,...
