Hi All,
Had my Solin PM fitted Dec 2010, Happy 40th Birthday!! A few teething problems and a humiliating trip to the airport and everything is ok now :0)
I am studying biomedical science at Uni and we are in the LAB tomorrow using spectrophotometers. I am reading my notes now to try and understand out what this piece off equipment does but the red light that keeps flashing is "electromagnetic". I have an email in to my cardic doc and also the lecturer but thought I'd ask if there is a...

Hi. Have a Medtronic MRI compatible PM and it has been suggested that I consider a Medtronic interthecal pain pump for the same disease that also caused my heart block. Does anyone have knowledge of possible cross-talk between the two devices? From what I've read Medtronic has a patchy history with regard to recall, etc., of these devices so I'm wondering how much to believe about their assurances about no cross-talk. Thanks for any feedback.

Moved to a state that may have power outages. I had my PM installed over two years ago, and to used my generator once; but now my wife is concerned that the generator will interfere with the PM. It is a bit small (5000), and I informed her that it would be alright for me to start and run that thing. I have done some research and cannot find anything that indicates the generator would interfere with my PM. Has anyone out there been exposed to an electrical generator?

On a recent flight I was seated immediately adjacent to a rear mounted jet engine. My shoulder (with pacemaker) was about 2 feet from the engine cowling. Could the EMF at this distance over several hours pose a risk? My internet reasearch has not yielded any information on point. Thanks for your help.

The light came on saying "Service Air Bag" and when the garage did a check their explanation in part reads: "Stored hist. clear codes as per #08-09-41-007D. Most likely due to a electronic device placed on the pass front seat." I am the only driver of the vehicle and I have a St. Jude PM. Nothing that I can think of has been placed on the front seat. Does anyone know if a Pacemaker could be the culprit? Curiouser and curiouser. Thanks for any input.......

Thank you all for an excellent website and I follow it almost daily- the answers offer a great deal of comfort especially as they highlight problems that someone without any prior knowledge might think is normal.
I am considering an induction hob to replace our existing gas/electric hob. The hob manufacturers warn against using induction as a method of cooking when a pacemaker has been fitted.
Has anyone any experience or advice please?
I have a St Jude Zephyr XL DR fitted.

What is the recommendation on going through airport security? On my PM card it states that I can't even have a hand wand go over my body. So, what happens then? Pat search? What if they refuse to let me go through?

Today when the civil defense alert system came on it affected my pacemaker; this has never happened before. I have been in the room when other alerts have gone off and it never affected my pacemaker.
This alert was very high frequency and it increased my pulse rate and afterwards I felt weak. Has anyone had this experience?

Doctor won't approve my medtronic box?. Do I need to get another doctor or insist on the box? Jude Tech had the box for me during a check up at Doctors office but doctor said I did not need it and kept Jude Tech from giving it to me as he had planned? Doctor said see you next year, if I had any problems to got to ER!
Like I can afford the ER costs for a problem that might not be a problem! Isnt that the point of the Box to save Doctor Office and ER costs!
New to this all - not...

I would really appreciate some tips from other welders so I can continue with my profession

Hi I am a new member, I am so glad to have found this site. When I was 20.5 weeks pregnant we found out my son had isolated complete heart block, heart beat went from 140 at 16 wks dpown to 53. Found out I carry the anti-Ro antibody causing the electrical current to be destroyed. He is $.5 yrs old on pm #2 and doing well. Had a rough start but ok until now. In a week they are putting wifi into our public school. Does anyone have a child in a school with wifi that can give me information, or...

I am a newbie with a pacemaker. I bought a product on line and proceeded to put my credit card in my shirt pocket over my pacemaker. All of a sudden I was getting chest pains, really weird! Then I remembered that credit cards have a magnetic strip in it, when I removed it the pain went away. I guess I have to get a new way of looking at things! LOL

I know this is going to sound very odd to say the least.... Here is what happened.
I was in my garage working on some "Bird Houses" I was holding one of the houses close to my chest to so I could get a good grip to use the wood glue. As I was applying pressure to the side piece I heard very clearly a nice beeeeeeeeeeep. I swear it came from my pacemaker.
Now I could be crazy and it could have come from something else, but nothing else was on in the garage. It was the we...
