Confused

I had a AV node ablation after having a clot in my heart back in 2016 which didnot resolve at that time. and progress could not be made. This procedure has an 80% chance of sucess but I was in the 20% that didn`t.  As the breathlessness was still a large problem my EP sugested a PVI after a check to see if the clot had resolved. This was in an effort to resolve my breathlessness.  He gave it a 50% chance of success due to my age(75) and the length of time I had been in persistant AF...

Lifeline systems

Does anyone use a mobile medical lifeline system with their pacemaker? That is, a system that can be used when away from home. One company I consulted said theirs (the gps) would interfere with the pacemaker, so they cannot recommend it.

Thank you.

Electric Cauterization

I have to see a dermatoligist soon to remove a basal cell issue. They wil be doing a ED&C procedure, which involves cauterizing the area with an electric probe.

Has anyone with a pacemaker had this done? Any issues?

Running a treadmill

Hi,

Anyone feeling interference/disturbance when running a treadmill?

Have felt this when I been running during the last 7 years or more. But never expect it was the treadmill, interference with the PM, that causing it. Always believed it was my own fitness level.

But was running in 12 km/h. Pulse was about 170 bpm and passed about 2.3 km. During the run it was like a block or cramp slowely bulding up in the chest, the area near the heart/electrode. And also in the nerve up...

Interference restaurant pagers

I was surprised that I had a strong reaction to the resturant pager that alerts you when your meal is ready for collection at a resturant. It was near my chest when it went off and I had instant symptoms. I wonder if anyone has had strong reactions to anything unexpected like this?

Decorative Plasma Lights

My husband has a collection of decorative lamps which includes plasma globes and discs. Last night, the first time we've entertained friends since my pacemaker was implanted, he had all the lights turned on. At the end of the evening I was helping him turn them all off and noticed my pacemaker feeling quite warm. Fortunately I made the mental connection associating this with the plasma lights before I touched one of them. I did some searching and found information to support my...

Hi!

I have had my PM for 11 years now. And experienced a lot of electric magnetic interference and magnetic resonance. After adjusting the settings for the PM, from unipolar to bipolar, a lot of my physical problems such as tension headaches, fatigue and sleeping troubles has ended. And I am extremely grateful for that. And also since my proplems lasted in 7 years!!!

Now I have another problem. I feeling a lot of tiredness/fatigue after I have registe...

Left breast cancer and radiation with PM

I have read a few posts asking for experiences with radiation on the left breast after a lumpectomy, but have not seen many actual experiences of people who did have the radiation. Can anyone tell me if they had it without moving the PM, and if they did move the PM where did they put it and was is unaffected by the radiation? I will be meeting with the radiologist oncologist this week, but would love to hear personal experiences.

Thank you.

Pacemaker Interference when driving Suzuki Grand Vitara

Has anyone ever experienced pacemaker interference when driving the Suzuki Grand Vitara?

At home, on exertion, I would sweat badly, become exhausted and breathless. Angina.

Prior to pacemaker, I suffered syncope, my pulse kept falling below 30bpm.

So it was set to 60bpm.

Cardiology unlocked something to allow my heart rate to increase thus providing increased oxygenation to limbs etc.

As soo as I turn the engine on, my pacemaker goes haywire causing flutters in m...

Noise cancelling earphones

I live in the tropics and use a lot of blue tooth devices....speakers, smart watch, iPad, etc. and noise cancelling headphones. I use the headphones daily during rainy season otherwise I can’t hear music or a movie because of the rain on my tin roof.

Is there a problem with Bluetooth devices? Plus I just bought a new microwave before being told I need a pm for SSS.

I’m sure this has been answered a million times but as a newbie, I’m confused about what I he...

Tanning Facilities

I am the recipient of a dual chamber PM just 5 weeks tomorrow.  I understand that I can never utilize a tanning booth again, but my question is, can I utilize a tanning bed just for my legs only?  If my body is outside of the tanning bed from waist up, is tanning just the legs okay?

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
