Pacemakers and electromagnetic fields and interference

Hi everyone! New to this club and to pacemaker equipment as of January 29th, 2019. Wondering if anyone out there is a Mechanic or a Welder that also has a pacemaker and how it has changed their work place day to day stuff. Things that could affect the pacemaker operation, what to avoid and what to do to protect so can do normal routine of job. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I enjoy my work and want to continue it.

Apple Watch or Fitbit

I had a PM installed 3/4/19 and have some questions about wearing an Apple Watch or Fitbit for self-monitoring and general travel. Obviously I do not have a clear understanding how this all works.

1. Will the devices interfere with my PM?

2. If not, which one offers the best information?

3. Do I carry my Merlin Transmitter with me when I stay in a motel?

4. How am I monitored during the day when I am outside, shopping, or riding in a car?

Thank you for...

magnets

Hello,

In addition to having a pacemaker, I use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea.  I recently was upgraded to a newer CPAP.  The straps for the nose mask have magnetic clips on either side.  The magnets attach the straps and sit about 1/2 way between the bottom of my jawbone and my ears.  The CPAP tech had literature saying that the magnets should not interfere with a pacemaker.  The magnets are small, and I am inclined to believe they are not a...

My cardio messenger

Is my phone interfering (spelling not my strong suit) with my cardio messenger? Am I supposed to keep them a certain distance away from each other. Does that mean using my phone is blocking messenger from connecting with my doctor?

Also I had a weird 10 second thing my heart started beating really fast. I obviously noticed and tried to Pace my breathing, and it slowed but isn't the pacemaker soposed to keep that from happening?

Pacer and walker

Just wanted to find out if anyone else had this experience.  For several weeks I’ve been pushing a walker due to arthritic knees.  I can actually walk just fine; the walker helps me get around more confidently.  A few days ago I was  visiting my husband at a really large hospital.  While I was walking with his entourage who were moving him to a new room, we stopped to wait for an elevator.  It was then that I felt light-headed and “funn...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
