http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/13/business/13device.html?src=busln

SLOTS of FUN.

Hello to my new friends,

This is Daniel.

Well 14 days after they stuck my ICD in I decided to take the plunge and go to the Casino. My thanks to Gonnie, Qwerty, Jeanmarie and Caorlyn for their vote of confidence. While I didn't win a jackpot, I did have a good time. There was no change in the way I felt, walking around or playing. I won't know how my ICD is set until I see the Doctor next week. I'm hoping all is well. Thank you so much!!!

GOD Bless,

No longer !

Thanks to all for your hospitality. I was born with CHD. Specifically, Teratology of Fallot and malfunctioning pulmonary valve. After three surgeries, 1961,1989, and 2003. (complete repair) my heart would not pick up speed. It was beating 45 bpm. So it was decided to install an ICD. I am on the second unit now because the first one was recalled.

I have never been comfortable with it. Telling my various doctors to no avail. According to my latest interrogation, it still is pacing my h...

Hi Everyone,
May be this was discussed on this forum before. I am curious to know the impact the new airport fully body scanners may have on ICDs. I am sort of concerned. I'll be traveling shortly and wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Just Wondering...

I had my ICD implanted on 11/2009. I didn't have insurance or anything at the time it was put in, and when I went to my 2 week follow-up appointment, the receptionists wouldn't even let me go back to be seen by the doctor that put the thing in because I didn't have Medicaid nor $50 or any insurance. I haven't had it tested, looked at, or nothing since I was released from the hospital.

It did beep one time when I was cleaning the refrigerator and I was putting magnets back on the free...

I've had my icd for almost 4 years and thank God, it has never gone off. But me and my doc disagree about me being on a beta blocker. I don't want to be on it, but he says it prevents the icd from going off. Anyways, my only concern is driving. Has anyone ever had their icd go off while they were driving?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!

BOSTON SCIENTIFIC HALTS PRODUCTION

First let me thank "chaker, mrroerockhead, mjmellon and Blessed One" for your return comments. I will be in touch with all of you shortly. BUT..last nite I was reading a small newspaper "AM NEW YORK" and came across an article that said that Boston Scientific freezes sales on it's defibrillator line. Something to do with not advising regulators of changes in production of their top sellers.

I'm not a whiz kid on investigatory work on thi...

BS has temporarily suspended ICD sales. It's not a recall. BS says there are no safety issues involved.

Hopefully EPs who have recently implanted BS devices will be extra wary of monitoring them.

remove the icd and cap the lead

My Medtronics ICD and sprint Fidelis lead scares the heck out of me. Has anyone had the device removed and the leads capped? Should a patient's mental well-being be a consideration in his therapy?

Removal of Icd

Anyone here had their Icd removed. I just went through 3 surgeries. The Vascular Surgeon said he goofed and thought it was funny and he's on the top 10 of Florida.
Yes my wife filed a lawsuit. When fixing a loose lead he did not connect the other lead properly which also let to stripping the icd which had just been replaced a few months ago.
I want it removed as soon as my heart is strong enough but my heart was weak when it was first put it. I don't have high cholesterol or hypertensi...
