Severe radiating pain left arm forearm since pacemaker surgery, deemed non cardiac pain

Hi, 8 weeks post pacemaker surgery, first pacemaker. First installation was complicated as was done in a superficial pocket that became infected after debark weeks.
Then 2nd surgery to reinstall pacemaker in deeper pocket, with no post surgical infection or abscess thankfully. 2nd surgery was around 4 weeks ago. However within days of the second surgery I am experiencing very severe throbbing radiating pain in my armpit, right  side of the left arm and forearm. It ha...

Pneumothorax Causing Back Pain?

Hi all,

When I had the pacemaker implanted, they pierced my lung and I ended up with a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). They put a chest tube in through my side. One doctor thought it actually went into my lung rather than into the pleural space.

My implant was two weeks ago today. Tonight I have a sharp pain in my mid back, directly across from where the chest tube went in. I suspect the pain is caused by the chest tube having been there, but I'm not sure. I'm not short of...

Pacemaker

I had a pacemaker fitted in 2020 and every time I moved my left arm (left handed) it was rubbing on bone.  It was moved during open heart surgery in 2021 and was fine for a while.  It has now moved upwards and is grinding on my collar bone.  In addition it will stand up on end from the bottom.  I can hold both sides of it in my fingers.  My worry is that this amount of movement surely isn't good for the wires in my heart?  Can't seem to get any answers.&n...

Pacemaker

Does anyone have same problem as me?  My pacemaker was fitted in 2020 and was catching on the bone every time I moved my left arm (left handed).  Had it moved during open heart surgery in 2021 but it has now migrated "north".  It catches on my collar bone and even stands on end from the bottom.  Can get my fingers on both sides of it.  My main concern is the leads.  Are they being pulled?  Can't get anyone to take me seriously.  Consultant...

Could it have been a faulty pacemaker?

Hello, I just joined. I honestly don't know what else to do right now until we find out more from the Coroner.. my father had a pacemaker put in on August 30, 2022. ... I believe 9 days ago. He woke up this morning feeling very weak and extremely short of breath. He was very pale and clamy. Started getting very disoriented, he was not able to hold his head up and instead of talking, he could only mumble. I called 911 right away. By the time they got here, he had almost collapsed. The...

The [not so] Lucky 1%

Before the procedure to put in my ICD, my doc went through the risks -- bleeding, infection, etc. She said there was about a 1% chance they would poke a lung. I fell into the 1% range.

I have been in the hospital since Tuesday with a chest tube suctioning the air from around my collapsed lung, breathing oxygen to inflate the lung again. It's starting to look as though they can remove the chest tube tomorrow and send me home.

Veins on Arm Are Shrinking...

Hi,

I had my device changed about 3 months ago and this time it is placed under my pectoral muscle, left side.

About a month ago I noticed the veins on my left forearm and hand have shrunk. They are a bit smaller now when compared to my right forearm and hand. But, I have not noticed any swelling or pain on my left arm...

I'm thinking it could be that I have not been using my left arm nearly as much these past 3 months OR maybe there is a blockage of a vein somewhere??

Newly Diagnosed as Pacemaker Dependent. How bad is it?

Helping my 80 yo mother. We went to see the NP today for a check and was surprised to find out she is pacemaker dependent. She had "rare isolated AP second degree blocks" prior to implantation 2 months ago. This seems to have occured right after surgery as her first interogation was showing VP>99.

from NPs notes: "Lead Testing- tested for underlying rhythm, she is pacemaker dependent. When PAV/SAV extended to maximum, she still paces the RV

Pocket infection

I noticed about two weeks ago that one side of my incision (pm 7/19/22) had a tiny hard bump on it. I was at a hematology appt and asked the doctor to look at it and he said it looked normal. My vision is poor so I just went on as if all was ok. But last night I noticed it looked like there was pus there and I put a very tiny amount of pressure on it and a blob of pus about the size of a pencil eraser  head came out, followed by small amounts of blood. Is this wh...

Band-Aids

I think I'm having a reaction to large clear plastic band-aid they used to cover incision site.  Looks like blisters forming.  Anyone else have this happen?  I'm suppose to leave it on for 5 more days, I don't think I will stand the itching.  Calling doctor tomorrow.

Zio Monitor & SVTs

Hello All,

Hope you are doing well -- thought I would pop in to post an update and see if anyone else has encountered similiar issues.

As we continue to go down all of the avenues to investigate my vision/motion disturbance (which has gotten better, but not perfect), I recently was seen by an ENT specialist and also had a VNG and CDP test -- mostly passed with flying colors, outside of when they blew hot or cold air into my ears, then I was instantly put into vertigo for about 10...

New Here

Hi, I had an attempt at placement of a leadless pacemaker, Micra, and the doctor made 4 attempts b/o high impedance.  After the 4th, they noticed that I had pericardial tamponade, and I became comatose and was in ICU intubated for 4 days, delirious for another 3, and recovering my faculties.  I am now trying to understand my chart and what happened to me.

The surgeon made four attempts at placing the pacemaker; each time he found impedence was too high.  What does t...
