PM Moved

I am getting so discouraged. I had my pm repositioned 3in lower and placed in a dacron pouch just 11 days ago. I went out to get the newspaper when I bent over to pick it up I felt my PM slip back up about two inches. I'm back to that irritated uncomfortable feeling again.

Have any of you experienced this (movement) after a repositioning, Is there any hope other than a 3rd surgery?

I think it's time to find a different EP, I have totally lost faith in my doctor's abilit...

Anyone Use a Coated PM?

3 attempts to keep a PM implanted have all ended in an inflamed incision area, appearing that tissue eroson is inevitable. Several bacterial cultures have all come back negative.

I called St. Jude this morning, and the tech said my Doc could order a "coated" generator.

Has anyone used a coated generator to prevent tissue inflammation/erosion , and did it help?

What type of material is the coating? PTFE (Teflon) perhaps?

@60bpm, is your pouch working O...

Thanks, I love you guys

Hey, I just want to thank everyone who commented on my post about my complications. They were so inspiring and just what I needed! And ela-girl, your message made me feel great. I still heart Gershwin... and UVa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to Old Navy after school and I will just say that trying on clothes with a Holter was an interesting experience... The fitting room attendant probably thought I was going to blow the place up! Anyway, my mom rescheduled her appointment so now I feel better. Than...

Lightheaded then nausea

I have had my pacemaker for exactly 2 months. Before the pacemaker I had bouts of syncope and my cardiologist (after several tests) said I had complete heart block. This past week I have had 2 episodes of something that felt similar to the syncope, but instead of fainting I get sick to my stomach. I was wondering if anyone had similar situation after having their pacemaker put in? do you think it is heart related?
scared!

I'm New, heart feels like it's in my throat...

My pacemaker was installed 12 days ago. Overall it's been a good experience, but I'm feeling like my heart is beating in my throat this afternoon. Similar to my first pacer check when they ramped up the beats to 90. But my pulse says it's running at 60 bpm.

The other thing that has been bothering me is that sometimes it hurts to breath deep, like a case of indigestion.

Have others had these kind of feelings?

I am a runner, and wonder if these symptom...

Will it ever end!?!?

THIS IS MY 3RD TRIP TO THE CARDIOLOGIST THIS YEAR!!! I am sick of the one I saw the last 2 times- he has a one-track mind and can only focus on one symptom at a time despite the fact that I HAVE MULTIPLE SYMPTOMS. My parents have to drive 2.5 hours down and 2.5 back and waste all that gas just for him to tell me to suck it up and take Tylenol (that was last time). Yesterday, he ordered a blood test to check my thyroid and then he put me on a Holter moniter, which is the worst thing mankind has e...

Defibrillation--Clavicle Pinch

I was defibrillated twice after receiving my ICD two years ago. Complications with the settings of the pacemaker--not compatible with my continued running. They finally did two things--implanted a third lead to get a more reliable reading from the heart and upped the limits before the pacemaker got alarmed. All was going well until this past month.

I was out running and BANG! Off went the defibrillator. Since I was running, my knees buckled and I went down on the graveled pavemen...

Fail, Fail. Next?

Well, it's the weekend, and time for medical emergencies to happen.

Got a pacer June 3, and it healed perfectly for 3 months. Paper thin scar, and fit was pretty good. One day, some clear blisters appeared near the scar. One blister became bean sized, and burst. My cardio freaked, and ripped out my pacer. Implanted another one Sep 8th on the right side. It was miserable having a wound on each shoulder, and still is.

Now,,, you guessed it, the new wound is acting up. When t...

6wks post-op Corroded Leads!

Hello,
I want to share my story and see if there is anyone else out there with a similar situation. PM implanted 7/31/08 St. Jude Medical PM not sure which lead manufacturer. Leads were a blend of two things ( unclear at this point but I believe they were a mixture actually combined silicone with polyeurethane). I have been in excruiating pain since unit was installed.
At 2.5 weeks went back to EP to have things checked out. He asked why I waited so long. I should not have been in...

SOB etc...

i cant quite figure this out--when i'm at rest i have an underlying SOB and what i assume are PAC/PAV (a quivering sensation followed by a longish pause) usually I get 2-4 in a row then back to normal rhythm. but when i exercise i feel good (for the most part) i'm in normal rhythm and little or no SOB--so whats happening here? maybe i just need to be in perpetual motion for the rest of my life :)
i have 3rd degree HB and also on meds (propafenone and atenolol)

Post-Op Pacemaker - Lack of Energy

I have my pacemaker implanted on 8/14/08. It's about 4 1/2 weeks now. I still have such a lack of energy!! Yes, I live in hot, hot, Florida and am overweight. I had always blamed that on how I felt before knowing I actually had a slow heartrate.

Now, when should I start to feel like I am getting more energy? I went to the doctor's last week, but he wasn't in and I saw a nurse practitioner that I never saw before. Long story short, I wasn't 100% happy with the visit. I talked...

new pm advice sought

Hi:
I am a new member with a new pacemaker. (9/11/2008). I am having some difficulty with florescent lights (dizziness) and some pain in the middle of my chest with dizziness. In addition occasionally it feels like I have a great big heart beat in my back just above my waist on the left side.. This is all so strange because until last week I thought I just had some fatigue and a very slow heartbeat. Every time I monitor my pacemaker it appears that it is right at 60. I am doing a follow up...

oops

I guess I got my left arm above my head during sleep and when I rolled over, OUCH!! It hurt so bad. It felt like I pulled on something in there and I was really sore all morning. I called the doc and went in for a check.

It turned out everything is still ok, I just have to be more careful I guess.

Gastric pacemaker replacement surgery

Hey. I had a gastric pacemaker put in 2 months ago and ever since I've felt the shocks. I have to have surgery on Sept 30 to replace the entire device. Has anybody else had/have the same problem? I just wanna know if anybody has had better results after the replacement surgery or if the new one is just as faulty as the first... I'm nervous because there are so few of us that have these and the surgeons don't have very much information to go on. So I have to take a chance with surgery, which scar...
