Hi,
I was wondering if anyone ever had a blow to the pacemaker site that caused complications? I was in karate class and recv'd a pretty significant blow directly to my pacemaker and have had pain in that area ever since.
Thanks

Had Cox maze 4 procedure in 2006 at Barnes Jewish Hospital that finally cured a-fib. Before that I had 5 ablations including left pulmonary vein. Off all meds from that point on.
Then I recently developed a sick sinus node, Junctional rhythm during stress test. Had Adapta DR pacemaker implanted Feb 10 2009. Now, about 4 times a month I experience missed beats with fatigue, pressure in chest and slight headache. Anywhere from 3-8 hours at a time. Feel like crap no energy. Is this nor...

First of all I am new to this website and was very relieved to see it was available. I just got my PM on Monday and it was all done so quickly I didn't have much time to think. The medical staff seems annoyed by all my questions plus it's hard to get them. It's good to hear what others have to say.
My concern: The day after my PM implant I started having a shock in my middle chest. It happens very quickly and doesn't last long. It usually happens when I bend over or cough/breath...

This happened to me yesterday mid afternoon. Have had a pacemaker since 2001, am a 64 year old man in generally robust health. So I was doing light office work in an airconditioned building when I was overcome with what I can only describe as the male equivalent of a hot flash. I didn't feel feverish; it came on very quickly - during maybe 5 seconds, I experienced the rush of heat followed by a soaking sweat from mt head to my torso. The whole sweat lasted about 15 minutes and I was drenched

hi. i'm 2 weeks and 4 days out from the dual pacer implantation. (a lot of crap had to happen to get the medical attention i needed.) anyway... the other night i got a sharp stabbing pain in the pocket with the pacer. i wanted to rip it out of me (still do). i called the dr. and they said that it was nothing to worry about, but if the pain was still as bad i was to go to er in the am. so went and they said that i am probably having an allergic reaction to the metal of the device. they said that...

Hello everyone! Quick question, please let me know your thoughts if you get a free moment : ) I am post pacemaker 8 weeks! The pacemaker site is still EXTREMELY sore and uncomfortable. When I move my arm it hurts (where the pacer is), and then if I do a lot with that arm it begins to shake (almost like tremors). The site is still red and last week was oozing puss and some blood (not a lot). I had bronchitis two weeks ago and have not completely gotten over it and now have a very bad sinus infect...

The defibrillator failed to function when I coded in a hospital elevator [lucky I was in the hospital] The techs from the manufacturer interrogated the device the next day. Now the manufacturer refuses to give us the information from the download. They claim that the battery was deasd?? we know that they got the information as we have been through the interrogation many times. Any ideas how I can force them to give the information??
Thanks and best to everyone

I got in pacemaker 10/09 after a heart attack and surgery resulted in 4th degree blocks. I seemed to be doing well, exercising daily except for the occasional episode. The first time it happened my little dog was in trouble and I got up from sitting, ran to a high fence and climbed it. That was 8 weeks post surgery.
Generally it will happen if I push myself exercising though lately it has happened when I get up at night.
It comes on suddenly though I have a sense it is com...

Hi all! I am new to the club, but very encouraged by all of the support I have seen on the website! I need some help/advice. I am 29 and had a dual-chamber pacemaker put in 7 weeks ago. I had bradycardia and had fatigue/weakness and a few episodes pre-pacemaker. Now I am more tired, I have ten times more episodes now, I have the shakes, and most importantly I have had to pull over to the side of the highway going 70 miles an hour almost passing out with my 18 month old in the car!!!!!! I am scar...

advice needed! I had my second pacemaker place 1/22/09. sent the next 7 weeks at dr appts b/c of incision infection, the stitches inside raising to the top thru my incision and needing to be pulled out multiple time. finally got the ok from dr and spent a blissful 2 weeks not going to the dr. All throughout I kept telling Doc it feels like pacer moving. He listened but said it was probably due to swelling etc.... and no cause for concern. NOW swelling is gone and pm is lower in my chest an...

Hi, I just wanted to say how thankful I am to happen upon this site. I have found answers to so many questions by just using the search here. You are all so wonderful to share. I am new to this but you are helping me to adjust just by being here and sharing your experiences. I am 52yo and I feel so encouraged from reading your posts. Having a PM (4/16/09) is an adjustment but because of this site I am sure that I will adjust just fine. It helps to realize that others have had the same issues an...

This is my first posting, and I'm not to sure how this works but I'm hoping to get feed back or just more knowledge on pacemakers work or have worked for other people. I have had my pacer since December of 2008. I am 40 years old and I have had a hard time with this, because it had really change everything that I do. I am used to doing everything and I have had to slow down because I dont have the energy for much, I keep having episodes and they cant seem to adjust it right...I'm just confused...

Hi Everyone,
I am glad I found this site. I had my dual chamber PM placed 4/16/09 and on 4/17 was told the bottom lead had moved.
I was wondering if the second surgery will be worse since it will still be tender when they fix it. I was told they will call to let me know when they will correct this, it may be in a week or two.
They have turned off the current to the misplaced lead. I feel so much better now that my pulse is 60, it is hard to think about having to have another surg...

I have had chest and left arm pain and irritation for less than a week straight. The pain is hard to describe but it just feels sort of almost numbing or dull. I had my pacemaker put in late last year. It has never done this before. Wondering if anyone had this happen. I have been so run down that I just feel like passing out all the time as of late.
