Swine Flu

Hi
I am fully dependant on my pace maker ,and a little worried about the current outbreak of swine flu is there anybody out there who can tell me what possible effect of catching Swine Flu might have on me other than the usual high fever ,aching limbs etc.
As I apparently got my heart problem through catching pneumonia you can probably see my concern
Regards to all
Stuart

L shoulder hurts

Hi all:
A newbie here.

I received my 1st PM just a couple of months ago. Had a syncope episode and they are able to see conduction issues with EKG. During a heart cath the electro-physiologist checked it out and there are no blockages, no clogging, no damage, etc. I am 45+ yo male. I have been active and used to be a hard core athlete thus my resting heart rate is typically in the 50s, sometimes lower. I was unaware of any problems before hand, no SOB, dizziness, LOC, etc. After...

Motorcycle Riding

Any motorcyclists here? I traded up to a Harley in April of this year and shortly afterward had an episode of syncope that ended my riding thus far this season. After having a loop recorder implanted they discovered I was having 30+ second episodes of sinus pause. I’ve heard some people say you can’t ride for 6 months to a year after a pacemaker implant. It’s coming up on four weeks since I had the pacemaker put in and I was hoping to get back to riding soon. My doctor's not being very help...

Pacemaker Syndrome

Hi from New Zealand
I have had a dual pacemaker for 12 years because I have complete heart block. I have had 11 years of no problems at all - playing competitive squash, cycling, mountain biking and running. The last year though, I have been experiencing congestion with exercise and general tiredness, not severe enough to impact on work, but i can not really do any exercise without developing congestion, coughing etc. My cardiologist is suggesting pacemaker syndrome, and may put in a third...

DVT after surgery?

Question: Has anyone thrown a DVT in their subclavical vein after surgery? Just wondering because I am being sent in in the morning for an ultrasound to rule out a DVT due to the pain I have been having around my collar bone and lower neck that started about a week and a half/two weeks after surgery. Docs still have no other ideas of cause but want to rule out a DVT since the pain would be a symptom of that although I don't have any other symptoms (such as swelling of the left arm, chest pain...

Still Grieving

Hello all, I'm new to this site and I hope I can get some good info about this situation. My father had a pacemaker implanted two years ago. He has been perfectly fine since. No complications at all. He walked two miles a day, rode ATV's with us, very active and healthy and happy. Five days after he had his pacemaker settings "adjusted", he dropped dead outside his home one Saturday morning. Has anybody had this happen to a loved one?

Interference

Im not sure if this is under the right heading, but here is another question.

Transformer, not the movie or robot lol but the up on the pole.
How much interference does one of those puppies put out.

We are set up in a campground for a few months and parked right under one. We are only about 30 feet from the transformer at any time we are in the camper.

Shoud we pack it up and move or is it safe to sit here?

Strange Sensations

Hi-

I would love to know if anyone has had the following symptoms:

My history: Had a pacemaker implanted August 2008 after several fainting episodes. It was diagnosed that I probably had congenital heart block.

A month after I had the pacemaker installed, I moved to London for a new job. This year has been up and down healthwise, I would get infrequent bouts of atrial tachycardia, which induced vague panic sensations.

But since May, I've been having t...

Hi All
Insignia AVT DR - Model 1292 GuidantPacemaker was implanted in Oct'2005 in India for the reason that i have had a low heart rate and for pre syncopes episodes. Even after implanting the device i have the same problems which were there prior to the implantation. The settings have been changed numerous times but the problems remains increasing episodes of giddiness, short of breath and even i had a fainting (syncope)

pacer pocket problems

hi!

i was wondering if anyone's pacer has shifted its position and what was done about that. i have had my pacer put under the pectoralis muscle at the end of february, and just a few days ago i started to have some pain and then all of a sudden one could also feel the pacer edge in my left armpit. all of my doctors agree that the pacer pocket has opened up to the left side which is why the pacer moved. the surgeon says he can't understand why it opened up because apparently he had st...

Feeling bad don't know why.

It's been 8 years since I got my pacemaker and lately I have been
getting really short of breath and can't do anything that calls for any exertion. Can't even go for a walk without having to stop every so often to rest.
Could this possibly be caused because the battery is low?
Whatever the reason it is scaring me.

Concerned

Hi all,
It has been a while since I have written on here. I have been feeling better since my implant in December '08. I have a dual chamber pacemaker for complete heartblock. For the last couple of weeks though I have been having the shortness of breath again, PVC's really bad, I feel bloated all the time, and my left ankle and foot keeps swelling and is slightly discoloured like a have a bruise. I spend a lot of time on my feet though for my job and things have been somewhat stressful...

pacemaker settings

my pm was set on 50 by the electrophysologist that did my afib ablation on may 28. when i saw my own cardiologist he reset it to 70 and said it should not be on 50. since then i have felt worse with pressure in my chest. i know it doesnt sound logical that this would cause pressure but i cant figure out what is going on. please help if you can. waiting on return call from electrophysologist.
