I got my PM a week ago!

Hello everyone!

I got my pacemaker a week ago and it wasn't as bad as I thought everything is going OK and I am a little sore, I'm trying to move my arm as much as I can.
Because I overthink too much, sometimes I think that the wires that are through my veins move.
I forgot to mention that I did the surgery twice because one of the wires Didn't connect properly to the pacemaker.
My question is how can you tell that one of the wires is mo...

Piece of suture remains at end of pacer scar

Hi,

My surgeon picked out most of it but a black spot remains, embedded in thickened skin. Anybody dealing with this? Will it work itself out so I can tweeze the edge of it to pull out?

Covid Vaccine

Has anyone experienced any side effects who have Bradycardia and and a dual lead pacemaker after having either of the two vaccines? Job has mandated that all employees have to be vaccinated by December 8th 2021. Tried applying for a waiver but it appears that no cardiologist or care physician will touch the subject for fear of reprisal from the medical field. Please share thoughts or concerns.  Thanks

Replacement

My old pacemaker needed replacement as the battery was almost run down. I was lead to believe it would be simple. My Cardiologist got called away to an emergency when my procedure was due so a replacement surgeon was called in. When my GP checked my wound a week later, he told me the PM was in the wrong place: too  close to my clavicle and it was restricting my arm movement.

My Cardiologist agreed and scheduled a repositioning procedure. However, unlike the othe...

Staph infection, 11 days in the hospital ….

And my pacemaker was saved! It's been a crazy couple of months. I had my CRT-P implanted on August 31. A few weeks later I developed a staph infection. It was not in my blood and as of today it is staying in my body! Very happy that everything worked out. I never had a fever or chills or any signs that the infection went into my body but the incision site was pretty scary. Everything is healing up good and I am so grateful! I wanted to share in case anybody else is going through comp...

New Pacemaker

Hi, I just got a Pacemaker and I am noticing very slight dizziness but today I tried to do some weeding and got very dizzy from bending over. It took me about 15 minutes to get over it. I see my Cardiologist for the first time since getting it on Monday. Should I be concerned. The Pacemaker was installed due to fainting. I have a heart monitor in my chest. The heart monitor showed that when I passed out my heart stopped for 9 sec. Now I am dealing with dizziness. Thanks for any input.

Pounding Heart

Hi

I'm four years post medtronic pacemaker implantation (August 2017) for total heart block 19 seconds during the night. I am now 71 years old.
Previous to this I had a Reveal Linq device implanted October 2016 as I'd been feeling dizzy and almost fainted on one occasion. Nothing unusual was found. After almost a year later an  analysis found there was a pause on 25 July 2017 at 04:15 hours; the ECG showed a brief epi...

Dual Chamber pacemaker impacting Ejection Fraction Ratio

Hi,

I had a Boston Sceintific Dual chamber pacemaker installed in Nov 2019 due to 2:1 heart block. Post pacemaker implant, a PET/SCAN revealed inflamamtion in heart for which I got a Prednisone & Methotrexate treatment. Although the inflmamtion is now completely gone after 1.5 years recent echo revealed that my Ejection fraction ratio dropped to 45% from 60% (at the time of pacemaker  implant). Also teh 2:1 block has now changed to full block., so pacemaker is used 1...

Staph infection - 4 days in the hospital

What a week. Oh, wait, it's only Tuesday. So I noticed a bit of drainage at the top of my pacemaker site. I took a picture, showed it to the doctor who sent me across the street to be admitted to the hospital (Emory in ATL) and I just got out yesterday. It is not showing in my blood nor are there any indications that the infection is internal. Still, I am stressing as my pacemaker is making me feel great. I need to keep it in there! I have a CRT-P bi v.

Just sharing. Love the moral...

The latest in pacing

Good news, you no longer need to go to Mayo or a university hospital for natural ventricular activation. Your native cardiac conduction system can now be activated by either His bundle or left bundle branch pacing, to prevent the risk of what you doctor calls "pacing induced cardiomyopathy" or heart failure. Google His pacing.

Blessings,

Terry

RV capture

Dr turned off RV capture, now feeling short of breath and dizzy and tightness in lower neck area. Says RV lead pacing in unipolar. Could turning off RV capture cause the symptoms I am having? When I was in the hospital rep changed from bipolar to unipolar and set capture threshold to 1.8@0.5. Couldmturning off the RV capture cause my symptoms? Any comments will be appreciated. I have a duel chamber biotronic pacemaker . I was in hospital for heart failure and first time afib!

Transmitter beeping

I had my pacemaker inserted in May this year.  The pacemaker was set up for me while in hospital and worked perfectly when I came home, until a few weeks ago it started beeping every hour on the hour, softly while in the bedroom and very loud if in another room.  I have rung the phone number concerned and was told  it was working perfectly but no comment on the beeping.  Any comment.

Post covid

I was recently diagnosed  with a severe episode of covid. Unfortunately, I did not take the vaccine beforehand and was hospital twice within the last mth. I received regen-con infusion, Dexamethason 6 mg, and remdesivir. I am currently on oxygen at home due to o2 dropping with any exertion. The problem I am having now since 8/5/2021 is my heart rate is running high with any mvmt. I have a dual chamber medtronic pacemaker and normally my rate would rarely go above 75. Could this just be a...

Anyone on the fence about the vaccines ......

https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n1931

"Conclusion Increased risks of haematological and vascular events that led to hospital admission or death were observed for short time intervals after first doses of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 [Astrazeneca] and BNT162b2 [Pfizer] mRNA vaccines. The risks of most of these events were substantially higher and more prolonged after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after vaccination in the same population."

The study size was staggeringly high due t...

Arm swelling

My husband had a duel chamber pacemaker inserted nov 2019. Just after Covid vaccine ~ april 2021 he noticed swelling around the elbow. When we checked the whole arm (on pacemaker side) it was an inch bigger than the other arm. He had CT scan , venous and arterial Doppler. All negative. It is a mystery. We saw the pace maker dr who said he has seen arm swelling but usually shortly after pacemaker insertion. We THOUGHT it could be from Moderne vaccine.

please let me know if anyone has exp...

Pacemaker migrated...alot

Good morning. I had my pacemaker placed on May 11. Since then I have had numerous issues with the settings that are still not resolved (I am one of the lucky ones who feels this thing working/not working properly), but now have a new issue. My PM has moved considerably. It has gone from under my clavicle about 4 inches lower into my breast. I was feeling breast discomfort and went in for my annual mammo and there it was, right in the middle of my boob.

I have gotten push back abou...

Decreased ejection fraction after implantation

Hello everybody!

I have 46 years old and already served a month with my PM implant because a degenerative disease of AV node. Yesterday made me a gamagramma, but it turned out that there is:

1. Slight apical defect that improves in stress in relation to recent PM

2. Dilated left ventricle (VTD 139ml, VTS 71ml) with borderline systolic function, LVEF 49%

3. Important asynchronous contraction of VI with a bandwidth of 240º, standard deviation of 60º, with the l...

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
