Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well.
I got my St. Jude Pacemaker June of this year due to third degree heart block and I'm a 31 year old female.
Well this past Thursday around 8:50pm I was relaxing as I usually am at this hour and I reached over on the couch where I was sitting to grab the remote. At that moment I felt this VERY strong pulse feeling towards the bottom of my throat. This is new to me. The feeling went on for about 1-2 minutes but it was really weird....
I'm new to PM and wanted to say Hi to everybody.
I just got my Edora 8 DR-T installed 10/21 in a local hospital.
It was not an easy impantation since they found out that my electrical conduct to the lower body is weak and keeps degenerating. That's why they tried to connect it to a specific spot which leads to the lower body.
The whole procedure including checking "voltage" to extremeties took around 3.5 hours.
My symptoms were/are brady/tac...
Was wondering if anyone from the U.S. who has regular medicare with a stand alone drug plan. What plan you have that covers any anticoagulant, incase i need in the future. The plan i have now(Silver Script,Atena) does not cover any. Does not even cover the antibiotic, i need to take because of my shoulder replacement for teeth cleaning.
new to pace
I'm really struggling with phantom shocks syndrome. Is anybody else suffering from this? How come there's not more education regarding this subject?
Hello, I am new to this site. I am 26 and have to get a pacemaker for intermittent complete heart block, pauses, and near syncope. My doctor wants to place a Micra next week, but I called my insurance and they will not pay for the Micra because it's "investigational". Are there any other "young" runners here who also have a pacemaker? Have you had any problems with the leads? Thanks!
I have a question I hope someone can answer. I know the voltages my pacemaker delivers when it is pacing. I know the voltages my ICD would deliver if I needed a shock. But what is the constant voltage being delivered during the 24/7 monitoring by our devices? This question came up last night at a gathering of device recipients at our hospital.
I am 39 yr old and had a sudden onset of heart ache since July. This followed with loss of sleep and bunch of other symptoms.
After 4 days of no sleep and feeling weak I went to ER where they diagnosed me with sinus bradycardia. I did 24 hour holter followed by a 1 week heart monitor. My resting heart rate is 49 bpm and when sleeping goes to 37. I am no athlete, regular body frame, weight of 162 lbs.
Its been 3 months and my symptoms haven't gone anywhere. additionally I feel...
My replacement PM has gone well. Nearly 3 weeks now. However today my husband was diagnosed with complete heart block. They are putting in a pacemaker in the morning. He always seemed to fit and well. Just had shortness of breath for a couple of weeks and more tired than usual.
It looks like we are going to be a two pacemaker house!
Prefer it to be me rather than him. Worried much.
I am wondering if anyone has had anything like this. I did ask my cardiologist several years ago and he had no answer.
I'm 80 and function very well with a low ejection fraction following a massive MI six years ago. (No pacemaker or ICD)
This thing I am about to explain happens only occasionally as it did even before my heart attack.
Generally this happens very shortly after I have gone to sleep and I am awakened (enough to be aware) of something happeni...
Just wanted to say "thank you" to the folks on this forum. Especially you, Tracey_E! Many of you answered questions (read: fears) of mine and gave me a lot of hope during my initial hospitalizations and diagnosis of CHB early last year. Thank you for being so kind. Between my pacemaker placement last year (2020) and my Achilles rupture almost exactly a year prior, I wondered if my best days were already behind me at only 31 years of age. Well...I completed an Ironman triathlon this...
I would be grateful for some reassurance now that it is my turn to have an MRI. I see Shana has posted below on Mixed leads - contraindication for MRI, so I didn’t want to hijack her thread by posting my own concerns there.
Although I have been told by my EP and clinic that I have an MRI Compatible device/leads...
In discussions with the manufacturer of my 'MRI friendly' pacemaker, I learned that I have leads from two different manufacturers. As a result, my system (pm and leads) is now contraindicated for an MRI.
Anyone else have leads from two different manufacturers and no longer have access to MRI as a diagnostic tool?
Hello. I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself and provide some background...
My cardiac journey started with my daughter, who had been diagnosed with "epilepsy" at age 12 due to seizures.
Fast forward to her age 20, after multiple "seizures" she when to the doctor where her heart stopped. It stopped multiple times between the doctor's office and the hospital (what I now know is called an electrical storm). A great cardiolog...
Well I walked out with two additional diagnoses. Inappropriate sinus tachycardia as well as orthostatic hypotension. I am also still having episodes of some sort of SVT in the 130-150 range lasting from a few minutes to nearly an hour. My sitting BP was 116/68 and dropped to 103/ 58 after standing. She said I were to be given a tilt table test as suggested before, it would tank.
New treatment plan:
Try metoprolol succinate to see if it lowers my BP any less. Consume as much s...
Hello. I am new to the "club" as of Tuesday. I have always had a slow heart rate - was always asked if I am a runner. (I was a runner for about 10 years from 43 years old to 53 yrs old.) My resting heart rate was typically in the mid to high 40's. Over the past few years, I am now 57, my resting heart rate has dropped to mid to high 30's. Have been feeling light headed, tired and brain fog for a while and my cardiologist gave the green light to mov...
As I've been saying, my blood pressure has been rather low. My current average that my monitor gives me is 98/55.
I called last week and let them know how I was feeling and sent over a transmission, though I didn't think my heart rate or rhythm was the issue at the time. The tech called back and let me know that this was the case, and said that they would talk to the doctor about the blood pressure. I never got a call back.
I went to refill my metoprolol yesterday ev...
Hi, I have had my 3 lead Medtronic Pacemaker for 4 years. It is set at a rate of 60 ....I run at 60 almost every day.
Lately I have been running around 59 ( Sometimes lower)
I notified my doctor about this and she she said for my pacemaker it is normal (????)
This has only been happening within the past couple of months.
Has anyone else ever had this happen?
I would be appreciated of any information.
Thanks for any help.
Hi All, not been on for a while. Annual PM check up today (2nd degree heart block diagnosed 2017). Technician thinks I might be having episodes of possible PSVT. Been feeling tired, drained, dizzy, brain fog, not sleeping....PM check showed episode of possible PSVT for 20mins, BPM 198....how can this be as I have a dual lead PM that is supposed to pace when things are wrong?? Now on Holter monitor for next 3 days and see what happens after that. Any advice??
Hi, I'm writing this for my hubby.. The doctors want to implant pacemaker for bradycardia after evolving heart attack & stent placement earlier this year. Husband still has issues of shortness of breath & fatigued, dizziness lightheaded, meds were adjusted & switched, normally he was a active guy, worked on our farm, hay wood etc & worked as a woodsmen & in construction all his life.. Always on the go & very active..& he wants to be able to go back to work doin...
Hey everyone! Can anyone give me a little guidance as far as blood pressure goes? It’s been higher than usual lately?
I do suffer from bad anxiety so maybe that contributes to it. But my BP is normally under 120/under 80. But the last couple of days I’ve been 127/81; 127/80; and yesterday I was feeling really nauseous which caused me to get panicked and worry that something went wrong, and my BP shot up to 136/80.
When it was that high I noticed once I relaxed a bit I managed to get the top number down to 115. That was within about an hour or so I wanna say?
