Where to go for device checks

I've just had my second 3 month device check at my cardiologist office. Is there anywhere else we can go for these check-ups? Labs or other facilities?

I've only ever heard of them through my doctor's office. The reps can't technically make any changes that aren't prescribed by the doctor.

Checkups

The cardiologist usually either has the equipment to do the checkup or an arrangement with the manufacturers rep. They make $ off it (kind of like ink for your printer) and don't like to give it up.

I live in a small town where the Medtronic rep visits once/month to do checkups. At one point where I needed to have an adjustment made sooner for my comfort, I told the cardiologist office that I was going to call Medtronic and get the name of another doc that used their services in a nearby larger city. Amazingly, I got a call back the the Medtronic rep happened to be in town that day for an implant and could see me in a few hours.

If the problem is just convenience you might discuss setting up the telephone check service. If it is a matter of not being satisfied with the cardio, then let him know you want to be transferred.

I had problems right after my implant and I was in the hospital the rep from boston scientific came right to the hospital to see me. They came daily to check my and sometimes in the middle of the night when my cardio called them. But, they also go to the Dr. office once a month.
