2nd surgery in 6 months.

Hi.

Just a quick one. I have had a pacemaker for 6months, treating NCS, and i've had lots of problems with it moving. I've just had a check up with my surgeon, and they'll be doing another lot of surgery in two weeks to secure it in place. I've had a sider insertion, and instead of putting it back where it was, they're moving it into my muscle.
I'm a little worried about the recovery with this. I presume it will be a longer and more painful recovery being inside the muscle. Has anyone had this, and really how bad is it??

Any suggestions on recovery or coping with another surgery relatively soon would be great.

Thanks
Lyds

Recovery time......

Well hate to say this but everyone is different and reocvery time can differ. If they are cutting into your tissue and muscle chances are there could be some nerve damage...and then can take up to a year to heal...althogh not delitating just irriatating....I am six month post new site implant and I have nerve damage...I still get the numbness that you get at the dentist when they freeze your mouth.....I get that just distal to my shoulder gurdle.....I am optimistic that this will improve as some days I do get feeling....

So as far a recovery goes...depends on the manipulation that was required to implant and adjust.......talk to your surgeon...and document your recovery and continually mention it to your GP.

All the best....Mary Anne

I had a revision of mine as well,,4 months after. They put it under the muscle,,sitting just above my breast. I love it there!!! It doesnt move at all. Since they most likely arent moving leads, you have no arm restrictions. There was no swelling and very little pain.
Try not to worry,,stay positive,,good luck

under the muscle

Hi..I had my pacemaker implanted under the muscle and it took me a while to recover. I guess what I am saying is that they have to cut the muscle and make a pocket for your pacemaker, so it takes a while for you muscle to heal again. I also developed some nerve damage in my left arm. I could not move my arm for a long time. However, i really am greatful for it because all u can see is a small scar. You cant even see the pacemaker. Wish u the best and hope u heal fast.

It is likely that it will take a bit longer to heal because there is more tissue impacted. That doesn't mean it will be a lot longer or more painful.
