My 1st PM Clinic

So, I took the advice most of us are given here and asked for my reports. My interrogation showed:

Atrial pacing @ 3.2%
Ventricular pacing @ 0.4%

I see from the abbreviations what PVC means, but can anyone tell me if there is something significant in these event counters?

PVC singles 431
PVC runs 13

The techs are willing to print out the sheets but seem reluctant to tell you what they mean.

Thanks,

Jane

Great you are off to a good start.

The low percentages of pacing shows you aren't using the pacer very much. That doesn't mean that you don't need it, but rather that the need doesn't happen very often.

PVC singles are when an isolated PVC happens. A PVC run is when several happen in a row.

PVC's are very common and rarely have any significant meaning unless they are uncomfortable. Most healthy adolescents have them regularly.

The number are the count of each type since the last checkup or in your case since the implant. I have run anywhere between 100/day up to as high as 2500/day when I had some sort of virus.

You might look for the following settings and post them:

Mode: This will be something like DDDR, DDD, etc.
Upper Rate Limit:
Lower Rare Limit:

The last 2 are the upper and lower limits that the pacer tries to enforce on your HR.

How are things going for you? That is the most important reading!

From what I can decipher:

mode: DDDR
Lower rate: 60ppm
Upper tracking rate: 130ppm
ADL rate: 95ppm (not sure what ADL is)
PVC response: ON

There is much more info. Guess I would need to be a cardio tech to know what it all means. But then I will have this little buddy for the rest of my life...I will have plenty of time to learn more.

Cheers,

Jane
