Update on changing settings

I had written last week about wanting my upper limit raised as it was set very low. I thought it was 120 BUT it is only at 100! No wonder I would try to exercise and be huffing and puffing!

After meeting with my Cardio he actually listened to me and said that the upper limit is the highest the PM tracks. I said - remember my hr drops during exercise so it is not going to go up on its own....

He agreed and tried to reach the EP to discuss. of course they weren't available. So he scheduled me for a treadmill test to see what was going on. That should have been today. BUT he called me yesterday after talking to the EP. The good news is they agree to just change my settings so I can exerise and get into a fat burning mode (yea!) BUT I can't get a darn appt until 7/28!

So I wait. I hope whatever they do works as I am scheduled to go white water rafting on 7/31 and would have liked more time to try out the settings.....

After the PM I tore my achilles tendon and was limited in exercise and now I want to get moving. (I never thought I would like exercise but I'm changing my mind about that!)

Thanks for all the help and support.
Sandy

100 is very low! Mine is set to 158. You are an inspiration to me to try and push myself harder. How long did the achilles tendon take to recover from? I am planning a tendon transfer surgery in the fall and they are going to cut mine and stretch it. Not related to PM but thought I would ask. Keep up the great work with your exercise and after your appt. you will be rockin and a rollin in your fat burning zone!

It took months and months... I actually damaged when I almost collapsed on the stairs which was the incident that determined the need for the pm! So that was Dec 08. I didn't seek treatment until end Jan 09. I had a CAM walker boot that I had to wear for 3 months. I hated every single second. There was some improvement but it took about 6 months of rehab after that until it felt better. I still have to watch it but they told me my recovery with surgery would be just as long so I had had enough of with the PM.

My insurance co wouldn't may for the d*mn boot or more than 10 visits to rehab. I joined the Y hired a trainer who did physical therapy and did it all in a pool so as not to stress the tendon. It was better than the rehab on land! But now I have to push myself. I have to lose a lot of weight and diet alone isn't enough....

Good luck with your tendon situation. I hope the surgery goes well!

100 is crazy low! Do they know you're going on vacation? That might get you in a little faster. Regardless, you should be ok rafting, turning it up is a simple thing.

Nothing gets me motivated to exercise more than having problems that keep me from it! Forbidden fruit and all that, lol. I had problems that made working out a challenge for more than a year and I've been fanatic about the gym since I got back to normal. Hoping you get back very soon!!!

To tell you the truth I never even give it a second thought. While growing up it never stopped me from doing anything and to this day my girlfriend or my kids need to remind me that I have one!
