Hi All
I have just found this site and have been reading a lot of your posts and now don't feel so alone.
My PM was fitted 2 year ago I am 47 and have just had a check up today, I was told I have used it less than 1% in past year - I was so nervous I forgot to ask what this meant.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
kind regards
Christine

Yes, that means that your heart is pacing on its own 99% of the time, and the pacer is kicking in only 1%. Your battery should last a long time. This is good.
Very fortunate!

Hi Angelie, Welcome to this wonderful club where you will find many very caring, supportive new friends. You are fortunate to be pacing only minimally. You should feel well protected with your pacemaker. Was it implanted for heart block or?? I've had my PM for 2.5 yrs. after developing 3rd degree heart block. I am paced 100% in the ventricle and 58% in the atrium. At this time I have 3.5 years of battery left for a total of 6 yrs. At the rate you are pacing your battery should last many years! I hope you will find this forum as helpful as I have! Take care and God bless.

If I'm not mistaken (I've only had mine for 3 months and I'm still a "newbie")
But you're only using your pacemaker 1% of the time means that your heart is doing the majority of the work 99% of the time. It's a good thing. Some people here are 100% paced ALL the time, meaning that there heart does not beat at all without the help of the pacemaker.
Hope this helps you.
My pacemaker gets my heart started in the right atrium, but then my natural heart takes over and finishes pumping the beat.
Hopefully, someone that's more "seasoned" will type in and give you a clearer picture. I know they're out there somewhere.
Welcome-
Angelie
