18 to 24 months!

Hello everyone, I have had a Cardiologist checkup today. It appears that I have 18 to 24 months left on this pacer.....

The Doc looked a little sad as he shared this news with me. I thought uhmmmmm.... well my day has not gone as I had hope. Really feeling sad. uhmmmm So I smiled at the doc (he is sort of cute) and said "YOO HOO!" That's great news! He look a bit bewildered! I laughed and said. "Well at least I have another 2 years on this model." Maybe the new one will come wireless and I can charge it up sitting next to a router! Maybe even solar powered, or body energy powered. I could move to sunny Florida!

I was being funny of course and everyone was now laughing.... It was great! I know I will need new a PM in 18 months. So what! At least I still have a life and people love me!

I was feeling sorry for myself today and then I spoke to a friend and was set straight on a few things..... one being that I am loved! (Very important to me) and the other thing is that I need to make the most of everyday. It truly is a gift. I feel so lucky.

Tomorrow I am going to signup for pottery making classes! Play in some clay... now that will be fun!

love, Pacergirl

What a great way to look at it. I have only had mine 7 months and I worry about when it is time to replace it. You just made me realize I am wasting my time thinking about it. When it happens ,it happens. Thanks for wake up call! Have fun at pottery class.
Take care and God bless you,
Amy

My last check in Oct showed that mine will have to be replaced also within the next 2 years.Must admit to getting a bit jitterey about it! I am 100%dependent so I suppose it has to work hard.I got mine in 2004.
When did you get yours?
I just hope the new PM makes me feel as great as I do with the current one.Mine is a Guidant but not one of the faulty ones Thank goodness!!)
Lets have a competition Pacergirl and see who gets the new one first!!
Love,Kay (Have fun in the clay!!)

Yes, I am 95% paced now... hence the shortened battery life. My life will continue, but the battery will have a shortened life. hee hee

Oh well, it is going to be just fine. My Docs keep telling that when it is time for me to worry they will let me know! Funny thing is I believe them. They tell me that they are professional worriers! hee hee.

It has been a lovely day. Thank you each and everyone for your great replies. Each one is so very special to me.
In closing, Remember..... pacers/ICD's rule!

Stay Positive

Hi Pacergirl,
I love you positive attitude and sense of humor. Laughter is what is getting me by the tough days. I foud out last week that my PM will need to be replaced in 3 - 31/2 years...i just got it in June! I was shocked by this, but then i realized that at least it shows how well my PM is working.
Pottery class sounds like alot of fun!

Christine

You know you're wired when...

Your ICD has a better memory than you.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
