Hello my fellow bionic heart wearers..
Here's my newest dilema.
Wednesday the 28th I'm scheduled for a new dual chamber ICD device, battery is low and I have a fracured wire.
I've had this device for the last six years, so beaides the fact my battery about to expire.
I have a sick mother whom was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm been staying with her and my sister for the last 3 weeks, taking care of her., may I add she's a stroke patient bedridden, and very heavy to move around. which I've been turning her and pulling on her, which I know I shouldn't be. Now, my sister whom she lives with is mad cause I'm having to get this done now. She doesn't understand the importance of getting my new icd and wires. Can someone shed some comments that I can share with her. I have HOCM and had two myomectomys surgeries for my big heart in the last ten years. Several vaulves that have some regurgitation, just a bit of my history. Help

What HurtHeart and Hot Heart said! Couldn't have said it better myself. Don't ever feel guilty for taking care of yourself, replacing a bad lead and dead battery isn't optional and you won't be able to lift for 6 weeks after. Outside help isn't optional.
As a mum myself .....

........ I am sure your mum would sooner you looked after yourself. It is so difficult when our parents and those we love get old and ill, but if you dont take care of yourself then you wouldnt be in a position to look after her in the future.
Take care

Thanks for all of the comments! helped confirm my own thoughts. tomorrow the big day. I explained to my Mom and of course she was very understanding.
Mothers too sick for surgery on her breast right now.
she's sorta fruit loopy at times, cancer drug she took for a week made her not so clear headed. I left her house today without any angry words, may I add yet.
homeward bound to get my house in some sort of order bwfor the big day tomorrow!! I haven't been home for weeks other than come n go. I'm praying its in half decent order. somehow when I'm away things seem to fall apart there. people forget how to load the dishwasher, or put stuff in its place. Lots on my plate, but I remind myself that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
You know you're wired when...
You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.

I can add nothing to the really good advice given above, except to say - do it now! If you kill yourself trying to do what your sister thinks she wants, who will take care of the both of them?
