steroids
by Alma Annie - 2012-09-04 09:09:31
DON'T take them, I don't know if they will affect your pm, but they will adversly affect your health, especially in the future. You can be fit without them. Anyway are they not illegal in your country?
Alma Annie.
roid head lol

yes they are illegal and i understand the side effects ...its only testosterone...the male body already produces it,.,,i was just wondering if anyone out there with a pacemaker has ever taken them...i figured it wouldnt be so bad if the body produces it already and u just give urself a little kick
One thing to add

Taking extra testosterone isn't a good idea UNLESS you saw an ad on TV about "Low T" and ask your doctor. The doc has already been briefed by the pharma salesman so he writes you a prescription for it after a quick couple of questions. NOW its safe to take.

Too Risky
by Tattoo Man - 2012-09-05 03:09:34
Craig, it would easy for you to see the above comments as the typical reactions of a bunch of Old Farts.
Sometimes a bunch of Old Farts just might have a point.
Ask yourself why Testosterone is banned, big time, by all sporting bodies as well as all qualified Medical practitioners.
Subject to having a word with your Doc first, you might look into Creatine as a muscle gain supplement.
This , naturally occurring Amino Acid is APPROVED by the International Olympic Committee and is used extensively by a huge number of Gold winners under the supervision of thier Doctors. In the UK it is available, over the counter at our largest national chain of Chemists...'Boots' in the sports supplement section.
I have never used supplements myself but have read quite a bit on the subject. The simple rule seems to be ...'Only take the reccomended daily amounts'..twice as much is not twice as good , you will simply excrete what the body cannot assimilate and that is crazy because Creatine dont come cheap.
Some on this Forum may find this 'advice' shocking. The fact is that the majority of top athletes include Creatine, Caffeine and Pain Killers in thier regimes within the guidelines of bodies such as the IOC and the UCI.....I suggest that the doubters spend a little time researching this topic for themselves. I was a doubter myself but reviewed my stance on reading articles in national running and cycling publications. National / International champions have actively endorsed Creatine in national advertising campaigns
As my own Doctor once said "If you run a Marathon without painkillers at sensible dosages then you are doing it the hard way"
Craig do the research and Talk To Your Doctor.
Keep safe and keep in touch.
You have been honest with us , .and we have been honest with you
Take care..enjoy sport..Tattoo Man
Remember Lyle Alzado
by Casper - 2012-09-05 05:09:42
Dear Craig C.
Without sounding too preachy, please Google Lyle Alzado and read up on his story.
Is this really worth it?
I happened to notice a picture of you in the gallery, if you can achieve that kind of bulk sans steroids, (I'm assuming) why sould you need that extra kick?
Be well,
Casper

Please don't do this. The effects on testicular function and testosterone are very well documented. The extra testosterone that you would artificially take will fool your testicles into thinking they are producing enough. That will cause them to shrink in size and stop producing it naturally. In other words, while your other muscles may grow in size, your testicles will do the reverse and become MUCH smaller. Sexual function can then be impaired.
Is this worth those large biceps muscles to you?
Please do goggle the effects of testosterone on the testis.
You may just change your mind. At least I hope so.
GOOD LUCK.
My best to you,
Gellia

Ger 'er checked! If it's low there are SAFE things that you can take. One that comes to mind quickly is the amino acid L-Arginine. I have a PM and take it on a regular basis with no issues ( I do have about 40 years on you though). Test the levels and your doctor will discuss ways to increase. What you need to NOT take is nitric acid though (it will bulk you up BUT) the side effects are NOT GOOD present or future!

You guys can check it out but an awsume combo for the heart is: MAGNESIUM (250mg day) L-Arginine and L-Carnitine DAILY

craig, have you talked to a sports nutritionist? A good one might be able to help you get more of that good feeling back in a safer way. Good luck. Aging sucks! (But it beats the alternative)
Who knows?

If you put one bullet in a revolver, spin the barrel and pull the trigger while pointing it at your head, will your brains fly out? Eventually, YES!

Don't do it

without getting into some serious medical terms, the ethics or legality of it all.... Anabolic steroids will cause your ventricles to enlarge (hypertrophy). When your heart muscles stretch, you lose blood flow....think of it like a rubber band, the farther you stretch it, the "looser" it gets, it loses its elasticity. The same principle applies to your heart....now the roids won't do anything to the pacemaker, but whats going to happen is your going to get "upgraded" to an ICD if you keep it up and make yourself susceptible to leathal arrythmias such as ventricular tachycardia's or even ventricular fibrillation....Having the pacemaker does not change the risk factor, but the effect of the juice and the vasospasms it will induce is not worth it.......I know its too soon, but look what happened to Michael Duncan Clarke this week, I gaurentee you that if you had access to his medical chart that somewhere in there the use of Anabolics is documented in his diagnosis.
good luck
Natural alternatives
by Rolfr11 - 2012-09-13 03:09:42
There are natural alternatives that you could chose, ie Maca Root, but I would consult with your physician and cardiologist so they can monitor and track for any adverse side effects. A
I may not be popular for suggesting a natural alternative to the use of anabolic steroids for muscle growth, but it seems you are commited to that path regardless.

Do NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!

Testosterone is not good for you, no matter what the age. Your body makes what it needs; you do not need the excess.
Have you ever heard what its effect on the East German swim team was in the Seoul Olympics? Not only were there physical effects, but there were personality effects - over-aggression & irritability, principally.
I can attest to the power of very small qtys of it - I take an anti- testosterone drug - Finasteride - to help prevent recurrence of prostate cancer after successful radiation treatment over 9 yrs ago. I accidentally missed 5 days doses in a row - At the end of the 5th day, I was not fit to live with. One dose of the Finasteride & about 5 hrs & I pretty much returned to my normal personality.
Also - you are 30 - it will not be many yrs before you reach the primary age for prostate problems - enlarged gland & potential cancer. That cancer feeds on testosterone.
It's NOT worth it for what you will gain. Just go work out harder & be happy w/ what your body does w/i it's own capability.
