I am taking 40 mg of coreg (Beta Blocker) and my pressure is still high.
Prior to pacemaker implant I was taking Lotrel, which is a combo pill consisting of ace inhibitor and calcium channel Blocker kept my pressure around 130/80 which is good. However, my EP took me off it after implant.
Yesterday I went out to a golf event as a spectator. and
came home feeling funny. I checked my Blood pressure and it was 177/116.
I called my cardiologist who put me on Lotrel but a lower dose than previous because I was taking the Beta blocker.
He called my EP who wants me in Monday morning to take the rate response feature off.
I am 6 weeks post Implant with a dual lead PM. I am 39 years old.
I have never seen a Blood pressure of 177/116 unitil recently. and that is while taking a beta blocker.
Anybody have any suggestions as I am worried about my BP being so high.

While on Coreg CR, my blood pressure in the a.m. was pretty close to 145/94. The doctor added another 20MG Coreg CR to my 40 MG Coreg CR (they do not make a 60 one) so I take both 40 & 60 and that solved my problem. BP is now less then 130/70. Are you resting before taking your blood pressure? I was told to wait about 15 minutes of rest before taking it. Hope this helps aldeer

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
sorry for error on Coreg
