Heart Monitor

I have had a monitor set up via land phone line since I had my pacemaker Sept 2008. At a designated time every 24 hours it sends report to Biotronics, pacemaker mfg. For some reason they quit receiving reoports on 9/5/09 (coincidentally that is exactly one year from my implant date). They sent me a new monitor, we have checked double checked to see that it is connected properly - pretty eze phone line from monitor to wall phone jack, and phone line to house phone (altho this is not required for the monitor to work, just that I want phone in bedrm). I am 4 1/2' from monitor at night (works up to 6-7' away). I have been informed that they are not receiving reports from the new monitor either. I feel great, so no medical problems of. We are all scratching our heads on this one, anyone have any experience with heart monitors or have any ideas as to what we might do at this point?

Thanks,
Peggy

Monitor problem

Have you tried placing the monitor even closer for a night or so to see if this helps. So many devices share the same radio frequencies. If there is another source that is stronger than your pacer it could prevent it making contact. The pacer has to transmit and receive through your skin with a very low powered radio (to save battery life), while cell phones, cordless phones, wireless computer connections, etc are higher power an have an antenna.

One other thought. Has Biotronics checked your pacemaker in the office to be sure the wireless monitor is turned on? Could a tech have turned it off at that exactly one year point?

hope this helps,

frank

Frank, thank you for your comments. I will move it closer for the next couple nights and call and see if they get any report. I have been setting my cell phone on the same night table, maybe somehow that is interfering -- I will put it up on dresser now. Only other change I can think of is my pm has slightly adjusted itself to the left, either scar tissues or ???. It has moved enought that seat belt over it is highly annoying - we solved that problem with the sheepskin pads. But the corner of it is almost into my armpit now. I'm going to phys therapy (per my family doc) to see if they can strengthen back/shoulder muscle to give me some relief. This has helped somewhat. I will make appt with the PM clinic -- want to see them prior to my next cardio appt anyway -- to find out if they can check out pm on their computer.
I always notice that you respond to many folks and you are very knowledgeable -- you are a great help to many of us. THANKS
Peggy
