thumping exact time every day

Hi all, I am new here. My mother is 72 and just had a PM implanted 3 weeks ago. She has noticed that she feels like her heart has tapping or a thumping every day. The strange thing is that it happens everyday at the exact time 8:50am and then maybe one or two more times a day. The doctor keeps checking the PM and says everything is normal. It don't hurt her but she is very concerned. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thank you in advance.

Patty

I had my pacemaker implanted in early june this year and i get this feeling twice a day! once at 10.22am then again at 18.22!!! (GMT)
when i spoke to my nurse she couldnt give me any answers but did a check on it and said everythings fine. kind of getting used to them now, but will mention it to the doc next time i get an appointment.

Because it's rhythmic, it's probably the impedance check. Newer pacers have a series they go through to check the impedance of the wires. The doctor can change the time of these or shut it off, but they can't really lower the voltage. That's why your Mom probably feels it then. The voltage is higher than a regular pace.
I was getting them every three hours. My EP turned the feature to check at 1 a.m. when I was sleeping.
Hope this helps and hope that's all it is. Have your Mom's doctor check the impedance check for her.
Best to you and her,
Gellia

Thanks Gellia

Thank you Gellia, I passed this info to my mom. If anyone else has further info it would be appreciated.
Thanks again, you made her feel much better.

You're welcome. When I first felt it, it scared me to death! Some of the very gracious people right here on the forum helped me out.
By the time I had gotten to see my EP, I had it diagnosed and how to fix it! LOL My EP was very obliging, checked it out and just turned it off. No more "shock".
I was getting three thumps every three hours and became a clock watcher. Like you said, it didn't hurt, but was more disconcerting than anything else. It made my arm and shoulder jump it was so strong.
Tell your Mom her doctor or EP can fix it for her with a little programing.
Hope this helped!
Best to her and you,
Gellia
