In My job I may be in the office today or part of the day then I may be on a peice of heavy equipment or drive truck work a crew but a lot of heavy hand work might be part of what I had to do.the doc. said I would not be able to do the labor and DMV will pull my Class A lic. to drive big rigs in Dec. when I have to see the co. doc for my new medical card.

Truck Driver

I had a part-time job in a furniture warehouse. It involved a lot of heavy lifting and occasionally I would have to drive a truck to do a delivery. When I started having heart problems I left the job with the understanding I would come back when I felt better. I had a pacemaker implanted on 6/25/08. I feel much better and am ready to go back to work. I had a physical for a driving test and I had to get written clearance from my Dr saying I was fit to drive. The Dr who gave me the physical asked if I had a pacer for defibrillator. Fortunately I have a pacer only. I live in MA. If you have a defibrillator you automatically fail the Medical Examiners Certificate to drive a truck. I feel bad for anyone who makes their living driving and can no longer do it. Hopefully things will work out for you.

I have no idea about the DMV. I know they'll pull it for seizures, whether you're cured or not. I don't know about heart and a history of syncope. If the pm fixes the syncope, theoretically it shouldn't matter but this is government we're talking about!

If your doctor won't clear you, you won't get far arguing with the company doc! Everyone is different. It depends on your overall health and how much improvement you get from the pm. For me, I am otherwise healthy and the pm completely fixes my problem so I don't have any restrictions from my doctor other than staying away from big magnets.

Good luck with it! You've mentioned racing heart and fatigue in other posts, do you even want to go back to heavy lifting and driving big equipment?
