why did you get it?

What was your reason for getting a pm and how long were you sick before you got it? Could just be out of shape! It happens if you're sick for a while. Ask the doctor if it's ok to push it or if you should sit down. 115 really isn't that high unless you have other health issues that would keep you from exercising. How do you feel when your rate is up? If you're dizzy and can't catch your breath, then it's bad. If you're just breathing a little heavy but still able to talk and do your cleaning, it's probably fine, maybe even good for you.

In my case, I had a block and my rate never went up so I was sadly out of shape. For the first few years my hr shot way up with any activity. It's better now but still goes up a lot faster than normal. It's annoying but harmless.

It's normal to breath heavy when you exercise. The test if it's too much is if you can talk or not. Do you have insurance now? If yes, see if they'll authorize cardiac rehab. They'll get you started on an exercise program safely.

If you're having chest pressure, ask a doctor before doing any exercise. It could be post-surgery, it could be the weight, it could be something else. Get a green light from the doctor before doing too much!

Rate Response

This could be a case of having rate response turned on and not properly adjusted. With rate response the pacemaker senses body movement and sets the pacing rate accordingly. Something like cleaning a bathroom where you may be rapidly moving your arm with a cleaning sponge could activate rate response.
As an example I found that sitting in the hot tub with jets on my back would drive my HR up to 140 just from the vibration. In my case I had the rate response turned off as I didn't need it. Now the hot tub doesn't have much effect.
