Pushing it

I've been doing something I never thought I'd be able to do, an exercise boot camp. I thought it would be too hard for me but a friend convinced me to go with her. It's one of the military style ones where they kick your butt 5 days a week for 5 weeks. The coaches wear shirts that say You Can Puke But You CAN'T Quit. And yes, they mean it, lol, tho they all know about my pm and cut me slack when I get dizzy. I have never worked so hard or been so sore or had so much FUN! This is week two so I'm over the worst of the soreness now, go me. The coaches rock. They make you want to keep going when you think you need to quit and do things you never thought you could do. I was doing sets of 10 pushups from a hand stand this morning, when I first saw today's workout I thought NO WAY but I did it. 4 sets even! And yes, I'm bragging :o)

I love accomplishing something I never thought I'd be strong enough to do, feels so good! So, think of something you never thought you'd be able to do and GO TRY IT ANYWAY! What have you done to push it lately??

YOU GO GIRL :)) I miss my workouts, they were very much like the one you describe - called Fit Camp. It's been months since I've been back because of failing pacemaker, then surgery for new one, then failing leads. BUT, just had my lead extraction surgery on Feb 23rd, so I'll be back to it soon. Isn't it great how you feel afterward?! Can't wait to feel like that again.
Best wishes!!

You'll get there! Glad your extraction went well. I guess no weights, etc, for you for 6 weeks or so? Will they let you walk and do light aerobic now?

A year ago this time I was recovering from a minor stroke, I'd had a new battery, new lead, and while they at it I asked for a plastic surgeon clean up the scar tissue from my previous replacements, and we were messing around with different beta blockers trying to find one that worked for me. I lost 4 or 5 months between all that. I started off walking within a week of surgery, then added back in the elliptical and weights but had reached a plateau and was getting bored. This is not boring :o)

As usual, you figured me out! This is definitely easier than chasing 200 girl scouts around camp all weekend. One mistake, I do not clean. It's overrated, who has time when it'll just get messy again!? Truly, hall monitor was the break. No electronics allowed so I packed my book and a big ole iced coffee and enjoyed the peace for three hours. And signed up to do it again next month!

Blake, I go to this one

I don't know if I want to do it long term but it's got me out of my rut for now and that's what I wanted. Enjoy your skiing! We are headed to my parents on Friday for some time on the slopes. I'm hoping this helps my endurance at high altitude. Even when I've been working out, getting up in the mountains wipes me out for a few days.

Boot Camper

Hey Tracey,

All the best with your boot camp. My wife has done them, but they don't appear to be as intense as yours.

Good luck and I hope you and your pacemaker kick some butt.

Tracey- an Inspiration to All!

Great going Tracey! Everything I have read states that for every minute you are sedentary, you shorten your life.

I have been walking the treadmill for an hour a day/5days a week (incline of 3 % now) and doing an hour of Pilates 3 times per week, and lifting handweights 20 minutes 2 times per week, in addition of cleaning a 3000 sq ft home.

I got a new vacuum cleaner that I love and makes me want to clean the house all the time. So it's carrying it up and down stairs, dusting with it, cleaning the furntiure and drapes. Believe me, a great cardio workout and the butt doesn't look so bad either.

Happily I have not gained any weight since last summers 8 week weight loss challenge.

Love it!!

I just started my cardiac rehab this week. So i just started walking a mile and a half daily. I am past my six weeks post op. Everything is all healed and i am doing fine. Thank-you for the inspiration to get back into my boxing bootcamp. I was told i just have to be careful with the heavy bag. So instead of hitting that i will do shadow boxing. The coaches you have sound like the coaches i have..lol! They actually have a garbage can for people who need it.

Thank you :-)))

You know you're wired when...

You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.
