How to feel

I had my ICD put in June 19th 08 and have had relatively no problems, I do feel some times a little disoriented and forgetful and I am sometimes frustrated of this condition because I used to workout and go dancing (I am only 52). I do drive sometimes but short errands only. the reason I am writing this is because when I see my doctors they ask me how I am feeling and I always tell them I don't what to feel other than the symptoms I described. anybody feel the same way?

Hi embo,

Personally, what you say your feeling sounds pretty normal to me. I think alot of us feel like a list of symptoms. It is a classic problem for people who are living with a chronic illness and you are. You haven't had your device for very long and honestly, they really don't make you feel any different unless you have a pacer component and are being paced for low heart rate.

It might be worth it to find a therapist or counselor to talk to for a little while. Also many areas have support groups.

Welcome to our group! Make sure to check out the FAQ section and read some of the articles under ICDs. There is also a yahoo group under the web links called zappers that' has other information for people who have ICDs.

Hello Embo.
What your feeling is perfectly normal.I've had my pm just over a year now.Even today I get frustrated with the new circumstances. It's just a matter of patient with yourself and giving yourself time too readjust.Take care of yourself .Best of luck

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
