Isn't it great!

Isn't it great to be alive during a time of such medical and technical advances!
So if they can incorporate this in conjunction with our PM's, the only question would be, when should we replace the PM? The piezoelectric ribbon would provide a constant charge to the PM battery. So it wouldn't discharge unless there was a large demand or another problem. Short of internal corrosion, no need to replace batteries. Currently the only reason for replacing the PM is to replace the battery.
Next question is for what the medical insurance companies will pay? If you're ticking along real well, don't need a battery, why replace? Why pay?
Would a company pay to replace a PM if the next model is MRI shielded and your current one isn't? Would a company pay to replace a PM if the next model has an advanced printed circuit board that will stop a-fib in its tracks?
All sorts of questions. But, hey, isn't great to be alive enough to ponder the situation!
