Need a translation

I am two weeks past pacemaker implant and feeling pretty good. I went back for my first check up and they said everything was fine. I have copies of the "quick look report" and the "session summary" but no one took the time to explain what all the information means. I have a Medtronic EnRhythm pacemaker. Can anyone tell me what patient activity measures? I guess next time I'll have to slow everyone down and ask questions.

One of the most maddening things to deal with is when you are not treated as a person with a pacemaker, but the holder of the device! It would be wonderful if the first question they ask you would be, ''how are you feeling?", before they even put the wand on your shoulder! All of a sudden the device and its function take priority to how you are actually adjusting to it! I have found that when you ask the technicians to explain things to you, they usually do. The Dr. on the other hand, if you even see him/her, is reluctant to discuss anything. I have found that if I say that I can deal with anything, once I understand what's going on, the Dr. relaxes and explains things in a little more detail. To just say not to worry about anything, is an invitation to do just that! We have the right and the responsibility to know what's going on with our own bodies! So you are absolutely right when you say next time you will slow everyone down and ask questions! Keep us posted and ask any questions here!

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
