swollen feet

since having my PM implanted about 5 months ago I have been experiencing swollen feet from time to time which may last up to one week or more. Does this mean my PM settings need to be tweaked a bit more or could it be a more serious problem, thanks for any thoughts on this :)

blood pressure

Have you checked your blood pressure when you're retaining fluid? My first two guesses would be that or hydration, not pm.

swollen feet.... not good

Hi I was suffering from this very thing and it turns out that I was experiencing a reaction to some medication!

My suggestion is... Have it checked out. Make an appt. with your Dr.

Take a complete list of all the medications you are taking, to include all over the counter meds, vitamins, tonics, mixes and whatever else you may be taking. Don't forget herbal teas!
This might possibly be a reaction to a combination of things. Or it could be your blood pressure.

Don't put it off. You could be feeling a lot better really soon.

Good luck and please let us know what you find.

swollen feet/ankles

by gsue55 - 2008-08-17 10:08:02

Hello,

I have been having the same problems. I have been checked out for everything they can think of & all my tests are coming back good. That makes me happy that there is nothing else wrong with me but...It still does not explain all the swelling and soreness I am havening in my ankles. I do NOT take any meds for my heart. I have been tested for just about everything under the sun.

I am getting very depressed over this as I thought when I got my PM it meant I would have a New Life..Instead all I have been doing is hurting more. It is coming up on my first year with my l'il friend and would like to have some sort of celebration but..I can't walk much.

What do I do next?

Gloria

thanks :)

thank you for your responses, my BP ranges from 110/65 to 135/90 on average, But i'm still puzzled why this happened after my PM placement i'll check on the interactions because i'm taking quite a few meds.

Another Opinion

hi Karma,

Just thought I would throw in my two cents also. All the possibilities listed above are all plausible but there are a couple of things I didn't see mentioned.
1) Your getting older. We often can react to things differently as we age.
2) When you go to the doctors (which you should)ask them about possibly using a diuretic during the hot season or if your having problems with swelling from any other cause.
3)Watch your salts intake. Look at ingredients of everything, including liquids.

That's what I did, started using a diuretic and though it does make me urinate more :-) the benefit is my ankles and hands don't swell like they used to. Also, they reduce the risk of fluid retention occurring internally also. I'm not trying to sell them, just trying to offer options and reasons why for.

Good luck with it and keep us posted

swollen feet

hey,
From reading the above posts looks like you are getting good advice, here are my thoughts: Have they checked you for peripheral artery disease, or PAD? You can have swelling and pain in your calves, feet. The hallmark sign for PAD is pain with walking that does not occur right away but comes on as you walk.
Have they ruled out DVT's or deep vein thrombosis, it's probabaly not this but would be good to know
Is 1 leg more swollen than the other, could be a little congestive heart failure.
And definately I agree with everyone it can be medication related, and/or blood pressure problems.
Not trying to upset you, just different ideas, and I definately would call your doc and let him know.
Good luck.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
