Welcome!

I am not an ICD patient, but I do have a pacemaker! You are lucky to know of this site and it is a great place to ask questions and find out information! Most of the folks here are great!

I think the best advice is to be sure to follow your post-op directions perfectly! The big thing is not to raise your arm (on the side your ICD is on...) above your head, or lift anything for 4 - 8 weeks, depending on what your directions are. The early days are the days when leads often migrate and move it seems ... you want them to settle down and find a "home" in your body! Otherwise, rest and don't do more than you really feel able.

If you have questions that come up, just post them and I am sure folks will answer... there is also a nice search feature at the top, or browse through the forums that have clickable links on the left in red.

I hope your new ICD will make you feel lots better!

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
