new icd patient

Hi.

just had icd impamted yesterday(3/31/08).
still sore and getting used to it. any tips etc...?

I am not an ICD patient, but I do have a pacemaker! You are lucky to know of this site and it is a great place to ask questions and find out information! Most of the folks here are great!

I think the best advice is to be sure to follow your post-op directions perfectly! The big thing is not to raise your arm (on the side your ICD is on...) above your head, or lift anything for 4 - 8 weeks, depending on what your directions are. The early days are the days when leads often migrate and move it seems ... you want them to settle down and find a "home" in your body! Otherwise, rest and don't do more than you really feel able.

If you have questions that come up, just post them and I am sure folks will answer... there is also a nice search feature at the top, or browse through the forums that have clickable links on the left in red.
