Protection during softball

Hello,
I plan on playing softball this upcoming season, but my mother's insisting i cover my pacemaker/difribillator with something to protect it from an impact of some sort.

I've never heard of anything which can do that.

Anybody have any ideas?

Well, I don't know if softball is a contact sport or not, but you should try to avoid them. There was a posting a while back and there may be a new form of protection for PMs available soon. Ask your doctor if softball is even an option because I was told I was absolutly not allowed to play soccer or fence. I was reallllllly mad, but maybe if this sheild is patented soon, I can play!

If in doubt, listen to your Mother.

Go for it!!!

I play softball, rollerblade, ice hockey, ski etc. etc. If your doctor doesn't have a problem with it then go for it!

As for protective wear ... try allsportsarmour.com

Good luck

That allsportsarmour site has what looks like the perfect chest protector - if you're a guy :(

I would think taping some plastic or padding under your sportsbra would do the trick - you don't have too much risk to the chest in softball, but accidents do happen. You should be able to come up with something that would work if you're creative.

The allsports armour is molded to your own body male or female. (I am female) The system for recoil protection covers the device well.

I have spent almost 8 years testing different ways to protect my device because I work a job where I get hit and head butted frequently in that region. It is uncomfortable to get hit, but it has never hurt my device.

The problem with taping padding is it never stays and I have found it VERY uncomfortable. The tape pulls every time you move.

Hi Sarah,
My daughter was 3 years old when she received her pm. I am in the process (patent pending) a guard that will help ALL people with pm's for active lifestyles or an extra protection. I was so hoping to have this ready by now but had a little problem with one of the manufacturers and I'm not willing to use just anyone. This is to important to me. If you would like to email me directly, ma address is sspinnler@optonline.net. I would love to chat with you and even pick your brain.
