Interested in how you found the strap. I ordered one seat belt strap - but got an email saying it would cost more to post it then it cost - but that I could have up to four items. So I thought I would go for two seat belt straps and twp bra straps/ Have not ordered them yet because before spending that muh would want to know if they actually work?

I did forget to say that I found them at the Store listed under Clubhouse on the left. If you click on the seat belt, it then shows the bra strap.

seat belt cushion & bra pad

by aldeer - 2008-01-22 07:01:07

Janet... I did not have to buy two. I bought one seat belt and one bra strap. At first I really liked the seat belt but because my pm is located quite low, it became a little uncomfortable, but I do still use it but move it around a lot. A small folded towel as some have suggested would probably do the trick. I bought the bra strap and it did help, but only because it kept the pressure off my lead which is right under the skin. I did find a bra (after trying many) that does not rub on that area and it works just fine. (Playtex).
My suggestion would be to only go for one each (at the most) and then if you really want more then order again. They are $19.99 each and postage about $8.99 for one of each. Hope this helps.

Seat belt & bra

I am not familiar with these products although I can tell you how I do my seat belt. I strap in around my waist and do not go over the PM. I figure I am secured and so what if it is not at the shoulder.

Also, check out Lane Bryant for some comfy bras that won't rub or hurt your PM site.

Hope these suggestions help!

Take care,

NH

I have these

Hi Janet....sorry I didn't respond sooner. I bought both of these items and must tell you that the seat belt cushion is still in the package. First off, I would forget to take it with me when I left the house and ended up just slipping the shoulder strap off my shoulder and using only the lap belt for the first couple of months.
As for the bra cushion, I did use that and it was pretty effective, but even that kind of rubbed the incision when it was fresh, so when I was home, I'd just drop the left bra strap. Once the incision healed well (but was still a little sensitive to that darn strap and its hardware), what I found to REALLY work was a silicone pad (sold as a "modesty" item when wearing clinging sweaters and such). It is self adhesive and really cushions the incision. Not to mention, that silicone has been used by plastic surgeons to lessen the appearance of scars. But again, the incision has to be completely closed before using the silicone pad as it does pull a little with removal. Hope this helped! Best wishes, Carol

One more thing

I forgot to mention that the silicone pad (can you tell I love this thing?!) is washable and reusable and costs about $6-10 on E-Bay. Take good care, Carol

Soft Touch seat belt cover.

by Stepford_Wife - 2008-01-22 11:01:49

Hi Janet.

I too purchased the seat belt cover. At first, it worked really well, but lately, as stated by aldeer, I find myself constantly readjusting it. It slips and ends up pressing on my pacemaker, making it uncomfortable.
I still use it, may be in addition, I'll try the silicone pad that Carol suggests, that sounds like a good solution.
Thanks Carol, I'll follow your idea, and get on e-bay.

Silicone Pads

by Carol - 2008-01-23 01:01:11

Hi guys, I hope you like it as much as I do. As for E-bay, I search under "Nipple Covers". As for places other than that, I have seen them advertised in a catalogue or two (sorry I can't remember the names). I have never seen them in local stores, but I really haven't looked. The pads are round with gently scalloped edges basically made to conceal the nipple area under revealing garments. Yes the tacky side goes against the skin that's why your incision MUST be healed before using. Sincerely, Carol

Oh dear

Fabtastic response

Thanks everyone. Hope we all got something out of this - ebay here I ocme - although I will gave to wait for a bit more healing by the sounds of it.

silicone pad

by aldeer - 2008-01-23 11:01:28

Dominique.... where, other then e-bay can you find the silicone pad? Can you please give a better description of it? Would I be able to find one at a drug store or Target? What would I ask for? Does the sticky part go directly on the skin? Also, as far as the seat belt cover, mine also pressed often on my pacemaker....ouch!! I do follow the directions for use. aldeer

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker interferes with your electronic scale.
