It's been a while since my old pacemaker was converted into a defibrillator on April 30th of this year. My question I would like to ask, is should I still have pain at the scar? It's been almost three months since the surgery, but is this normal? Any pressure at the scar area causes pain, and I am taking Tylenol like candy.
Sincerely,
Ben Lewis

As Frank said, we all heal at different rates and have different tolerances for pain but that sounds a little extreme. I'd get it checked out.

Pain

It sounds like more that I would expect. The problem is that we all have different pain thresholds.
The difib is larger than the pacemaker so would be a tighter fit in the pocket unless they enlarged it. That could make it more sensitive to touch. It['s also possible that the part of the device where the leads connect is a bit rough around the edges. If it's poking into the tissue in the pocket it could be painful.
Just by way of reference, I never needed any pain med of any kind even right after the implant, but that tends to be me. Others have more sensitive nerve endings.
If you haven't contacted the doctor, I would check it out.
