Hi Stoneflyer,
I guess the answer is yes and no, but it is not as straight forward as it sounds. If you have enough voltage to affect your pacemaker I doubt that you would be aware of it as that voltage would have sent you to home in the hereafter before it got to the PM. Now, if you are in the presence of a strong electromagnetic field that can cause a problem for your PM.
I think it was an EMF that Pacergirl was talking about that keeps her from working under the hood of her car. I'll let you in on a secret, I would venture a guess that the main reason she doesn't work under the hood of her car is she doesn't want to have to walk home. Just kidding Pacergirl so please don't get whampe-jawed at me.
One other thing, even if you were in the presence of an EMF that affected you PM, it may stop your pacemaker from helping you heart as it should and if that happens it may feel as if you are having palpations or skip beats, or some other irregular heart beat. However, except in extreme cases, if your PM is affected by an EMF it should return to normal operation within a few minutes after you get away form whatever is causing the problem.
If you have some time spend go to Google and input "effects of electromagnetic field on pacemaker." You will find a few thousand articles you can read on the subject.

Hi Smitty,
I am not as ill or sensitive as I once was. hee hee and you are certainly right about me not wanting to walk home! I haven't had the need or the desire since my hubby bought me the new "Bubbles". But yes that is what i was talking about. ;-)
You know you're wired when...
You forecast electrical storms better than the weather network.

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.
voltage?

Yes, in my humble opinion Yes, stray voltage especially can cause you some problems. I believe that is why I can not work under he hood of my car while it is running. I don't usually do that sort of thing but it can interfere with the workings of my PM. Any voltage can cause problems as far as I know.
You seem like a nice person, I hope you stay away from the power sources with voltage! Be careful!
