I was only looking at my scar yesterday and thinking that if I was in my twenties it may have bothered me. But it is only 6 weeks 'old' so still pretty visible.

Thankfully, at the grand old age of 36 I care much less about such things. Anyway, my pacemaker scar is FAR less noticeable than my belly!!!! ;-)

Seriously Rachel, please don't think you're being silly or vain by worriying about your scar's appearance. It's only natural, and I'm sure most PM recipients, regardless or age or gender have had the same concern at some point.

I am happy to say that my scar is not visible to the naked eye so I doubt a camera would see it. I can only find it myself because I know exactly where it is, can feel it, but can't see it. During the summer in the pool I had people ask about the scars on my knees - 2 knee replacements - but not one mention of the scar above my left boob! My PM implant was 5-18-06.

I would be happy to send you a picture of mine (after 6 years) as soon as my sister gets home with her camera, if you'd like more pictures. It was never a source of much concern for me; I had the ICD implanted at age 16 and proceeded to wear strapless dresses to the 6 different proms I attended. It's definitely visible but in no way ugly or distracting---the scars I've collected from tripping and falling are far nastier..
