Darn IT!!!

Well as you all know I WAS going to have my pm put in on Jan 9th!! The hospital called me this am and let me know that they needed to move the apt. They said that it was booked to late in the day and the next date would be Jan 30th! I know that doesnt seem like long but I really dont think I can sit here and think about it that long! Im going nuts!! I thought 10 days was a long time to wait and now 30!! I have already been to the hospital once since we set the date due to stress!! So I called my nurse and she said she would talk to the doc and try to get it back on the 9th!! Not to forget my mom has already taken off work!! hehe I had to add that! In a way I look at it like maybe God was trying to tell me something! Who knows! I tend to think into things a lil to much! How much more can I take?? lol Just wanted to keep you posted!!

Have a safe and happy New Years to everyone!!
Luv Rach

Dear Rach,
this is a little bit of a bummer but you will get through it and look back and say, "no biggie." Try not to focus on the negative part of the whole thing. we have all been through it and can tell you truthfully you will be fine, in fact perhaps better than before. hang in there.

Nothing I can say

by pacergirl - 2007-12-31 06:12:34

Hi Rach,
My goodness! You are going to hear a lot of support and all the right things.... from other pacers.
I, on the other hand understand. I would be just as irritated! In fact I would be saying much the same thing. I feel your pain and if you need someone to stomp their feet with you just let me know. I have a firm belief that no one should cry alone or stomp their feet alone either. Of course you and I may have to sit down to catch our breath! hee hee but you won't be alone.... Your day will come, just later than sooner.
Happy New year.... it's going to be great!
love, pacergirl!

ONLY 30 DAYS LUCKY YOU

by peter - 2008-01-01 03:01:52

I waited over 2 years for my pacemaker after the hospital knew I needed one, and I knew I needed one for 5 years (3 years before they did). I have written proof !!!. How would you like that? You have to live in the UK to get that king of neglect.Lucky you, only 30 days wait. Peter

Peter, what happened?

by GN - 2008-01-01 08:01:08

Scary story Peter, what happened for the delay to be so long? I'm hoping the NHS has improved somewhat.....Gary

Whats 30 days.....

by GN - 2008-01-01 11:01:03

....for a lifetime of health once its done? Rach, just sit tight and keep talking your friends and you'll be fine. I have 9 days to go until mine goes in and I've been waiting for 40 days now, and I feel the same as you as the appointment has been moved along with lots of other plans. Take Care, Gary

Waiting

by hooimom - 2008-01-01 11:01:28

Isn't it funny how our minds work. First we don't want the pacemaker and then we are upset that it is taking so long. I felt the same way waiting for mine. This can be the hardest time, just waiting. I hope it works out for the 9th, but if is doesn't surround yourself with friends and family who can support you, help you laugh and make the waiting a little easier.

Disappointing

by Shelly - 2008-01-01 12:01:20

You must be gutted!! I understand how you must be feeling as I too had a long wait, and it's hard to focus on anything else in your life isn't it?

If there is one positive thing from this disappointing news it's shown you that you now KNOW you are ready.

Getting mentally prepared for starting a 'new life' with a pacemaker is a BIG hurdle and now you are over it - well done!

I do hope you can still sort something out for the 9th, but if not, best of luck for the 30th.
