Wish me luck

Congradulations. When I got my pace maker it was the best thing I ever did. Lost of stress until the procedure was finished, but in retrospect it wasn't a big deal.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Wow, all I wanted for Christmas was a new bike! he he,
Rachel, I am so happy for you. This is going to change your life. I have a dual pacemaker and have had it 2 years this Feb. It changed my life.... it fact without mine I would be gone.... So hoo ray! I am sure you are going to be fine. You should know that I have had root canal surgery on some teeth that hurt more than getting the pacemaker!
Good luck and please know that I will be pulling for you!
Merry Christmas!

Great decision

by bowlrbob - 2007-12-25 11:12:08

Rachel, I talked to you on the chat line the other night. I had no idea then what you were struggling with. I wish you would have mentioned it then. I know it was confusing to you. Don't give up on the chat room try it again when you get to feeling better. I am glad you came to this decision for one thing it is just better to make some kind of decision. Plus you will gain the benefit of feeling so much better. I believe you will feel some better right away but believe me when I tell you it takes about a year to begin feeling normal again. It took time to get sick and it takes time to get well but your body will catch up. Please write to us after the procedure and let us know how your doing. By the way the surgery is pretty easy I just had a nice short nap and it was done. The month of inconvenience isn't bad. Just take advantage of having others wait on you. Be sure and follow your Doc's instructions and in a month to six weeks you will be ruling the chat room. Bowlrbob

Rachael,

Good Luck with your surgery tomorrow. I just received my pm on 12-5-07 and things went great. I deffently feel much better since getting the pm, so hopefully you will to.
Just a little joke for you : Every Christmas my parents get all the children one big expensive gift. This year while I was in the hospital my parents drove up for the surgery. When I woke up from surgery my dad looked at me all serious and said Merry Christmas, You just got your gift early....... :) Nothing like having your parents make you laugh right after surgery :) Good Luck and Merry Christmas

Getting any form of surgery can be somewhat nerve racking....having a pm inplanted is no different. I know for myself, before I had the pm inplanted I found that I was second guessing the Doctor, wondering if I really wanted a :foreign object" in me, thinking about ways to get out of it, and worrying about the actual implant and something going wrong in the process. It turns out, my Doctor saved my lfie, I worried for nothing, and as for the actual act of implanting the pm - it was over before I knew it. Did I worry for nothing....yes! You will do just fine Rachel...keep us posted!

Keep smiling,

rachel
