What is the reason to reposition your pacemaker? Is there a reason other than comfort?

Repositioning does wonders.....

Hi.....My original PM was placed directly under my skin and was so uncomfortable, it would constantly be rubbed and felt like it was pinching when I was in certain positions. I needed a new biventricular PM, for my AV node ablation about a year later, so I asked if he could place it more under the muscle. It was quite painful for the first month while it healed (moreso than just under the skin)...but now I'm rarely ever aware that I have it. I'm much happier and more comfortable for sure! I would recommend it, if necessary, to be more comfortable. Claudia

HI Everyone,

I just had my PM put under the muscle on Tuesday Jan 15th. I was put to sleep for this one unlike my first surgery. So far, I have had a lot of pain which I expected but...what I was planning on is the upset stomach that came with it. I have been sick everyday with throwing up,,light headedness every time I get up. I have talk to the Drs. office & they can't figure it out other than I have the flu.

I took 3 different kinds of pain pills while I was still in the hospital & they sent my home with two different ones. One for if the pain was really bad & then one for less pain. I have taken theses meds before so I really didn't think it was that.

I guess I will wait it out & see how things go.

I don't think there is any reason other than comfort or looks for any particular location
