Computer

I have heard that some pacemakers are sensitive to computers causing a rapid heartbeat. I have a Biotronic two lead pm that was put in in Feb. 2006. I dont know if it is power of suggestion or if it really does step up my heartrate and make it beat harder. Does anyone have any comments or experience with this? Love this website. Thanks! DD

Computer interference

I have a couple of lap tops and two computers running ast the same time in my studio control room. None of these cause any problem with my PM.
If you talk to a "Techie" you will find that computers don't transmit strong RF waves.
A router does but it's doubtful that it would be near strong enough (I stand right beside mine with no problems.)

Again, talk to your PM Tech and they should be able to tell you (by the way, you are usually laying or sitting right beside a computer when you get a PM check-up, doubtful they would do that if computers caused PM interference.

Hi I had a Biotronic fitted in March this year and in the early days I noticed that when I used my laptop I got a "fluttering sensation" - nothing really alarming just slightly wierd! However, now I am totally used to my pm I don't notice anything at all - power of suggestion, or what!!!?
(Since I found this site you are the first person I've come across with a Biotronic, was beginning to think I was on my own with mine!)

Computer Worries

by TR - 2007-12-07 01:12:18

DD, I spend long hours on desktop computers at work and at home. For instance, today I was on the computer at work for six hours. I spent six more hours on my computer at home. My home computer is a Dell 710 and powered for hard-core Internet gaming, so if any computer would jerk a pacemaker around this one would do it. I have never had a problem.

Hi,
I have the biotronik Cylos PM. I got it in June and haven't noticed any changes in beat rate when on the computer or laptop.

I also get a predictable "tapping" when around my laptop but it does not create a change in the rhythm. it feels "wierd", too.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
