battery change voltage??

does anyone know if there is a standard batttery change voltage for an ICD? Mine is at 2.6 volts and if I am reading the manufactuerer's info right , the change voltage is 2.61 volts. Am I missing somethimg here??

Battery impedance is also a factor

The battery impedance is an indication of how much the voltage changes with a change in load. For many batteries this is a better predictor of condition.

The battery life reading estimate uses both voltage and impedance. The problem with any of the methods is that there is no way to know what kind of activity you will engage in. For longest battery life prop your feet up in your recliner with a beer. I'll have to try that one next time I see the cardio.

I have a medtronic PM with ICD The ELECTIVE REPLACEMENT INDICATOR comes on at 2.60. Mine is very close/ Doctor says I will have to have a change in 6 to 9 months. They cannot change it before the ERI point or the insurance wil not pay. I understand mine will work down to 2.60v. Too bad we do not have a plug to hook up a battery charger overnight.

Sorry I meant to say my ERI comes on at 2.62v and will work down to 2.0v

ICD impedence/battery lifetime

Your battery lifetime is charted on every interrogation report as is the impedence of all leads. You have the right to this information. Big swings in impedence can effect the necessary voltage to make the ICD function properly so both need to be considered when talking battery change time. You can ask for your records for all of your interrogations and check these things easily. Discuss this with your EP tech or cardiologist and it may ease your mind. Its sure worth the time it takes to read a couple of pages. Best of Luck to you. Papa knight
