Have curly hair and like to have it streightened. Will hair dryers or heating irons effect my pace maker?

Hi Marion,

Nope. At least I bet neither of them will affect it as much as that fellow will you are getting all prettied up for.

Seriously, neither of these devices should have any effect on your PM. To play it safe, keep them a few inches from your PM. If they were to have any effect it will probably feel like a skipped or irregular heart beat. If that should happen move the device further from the PM site and the PM will return to normal operation.

Have fun.

Hi, Marion!

Some of the really expensive straighteners use infrared technology that could interfere with pacemakers. So, if you use one of these, you may want to check the manufacturer's pamphlet or call the company or ask a doctor.

Happy primping!

Long, Curly Hair

Marion,

I have long, curly hair and I blow dry and straighten it all the time. I have a Chi straightener and have had no problems with it or my blow dryer.

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
