ERI Beeping - pattern & frequency ?

Hi Folks - nearly my ICD replacement after 9.5 years

Been told that when ERI is reached, my ICD will start beeping

Does anyone know if it's continuous, frequent or intermittent  - what is the duration, periodicity?

Hope it doesn't beep when I sleep

Thanks in Advance 🙏🏼

Jim, 9.5 years with an ICD.  That sounds good and I hope your heart and ICD have behaved well during this period?

Do you have access to your ICD manual by chance which you should be able to download from Medtronic?  Alternatively have a word with your pacemaker clinic or local Medtronic office.

Your manual should tell you what happens when you reach ERI period and confirm the frequency and duration of any warning tones (and perhaps even the type of tone).  It should start emitting a tone daily at 6 months remaining, for up to 10-30 seconds when you go into ERI period.  Your doctor will want to schedule a replacement as soon as possible at this stage.

Your doctor can turn off a Patient Alert once they have assessed your device in clinic and confirmed the safety of doing so because with an ICD there could be other reasons for an alert to sound too.

So a lot depends on what Patient Alert has been set up on your ICD for low battery?   Your manual or Pacemaker Clinic should be able to give you this sort of information depending on your device model

Thanks @Gemita

Hi Gemita

Appreciate your response

Have emailed medtronics, hope to get a response soon. Someone else replied here mentioning that his ERI beep was daily at 7AM

For some reason, that person deleted their post here - wonder why

Good to know you have sought advice from Medtronic

Jim, thank you for the update.  I have sent you a private message in response to yours.

The member who deleted her comments from your thread has been doing this on other threads too, for many years apparently.  She has even removed her own posts on occasions that many of us have kindly responded to.  Personally I find this behaviour upsetting and I know other members do too, since we all spend considerable time answering/reading posts and I believe we deserve better than this.  The member in question has concerns about privacy/security leaving her messages up.
