For the newcomers….

My first post was back in 2012...I needed a pacemaker and was FREAKING OUT! I thought it was the end!  Well, fast forward 10 years, and I usually forget I have one 😂.

Just thought about the group today and how much it helped me...wanted to do the same for anyone who is just starting out and scared to death.  I'm telling you, the anxiety is way worse than the actual surgery, and life with a pacemaker is just as fun as it was before. I travel, I'm active, I work in IT around equipment. I love running around with neices and nephews, I'm into video games and gadgets...and the pacemaker has never held me back.   You got this, really.  :)

I love these posts. Those of us who have been around a while often say how we forget it's there, but the newbies have trouble imaginging that. It truly does eventually just become a bump in the road, not a major life change. I'm so glad to hear you are doing well!

But less so reading these marvellous stories! I had complete heart block and nearly died with a 26 BPM heart. I have been told that my heart is actually much more stable now than it was pre op and I have to keep telling myself that when I get a twinge.

Every day I feel just a little bit better and more possitive, it was just SUCH a shock and a life defining moment. The comment one person on this site made saying the PM was and enabler, not a disabler REALLY helped.

I hope in a few years I will be the one reassuring others!

Hi and thanks for the encouragement!

I'm also loving Piglet's words that a pacemaker is an enabler not a disabler. 💕

Renee this is a stellar post!

You know you're wired when...

You can finally prove that you have a heart.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
