Hi!
I'm a Funeral Director in Alabama. I am working with a family to donate their loved one's pacemaker. I have found a company to donate the pacemaker to but they have also brought me the Pacetrak Plus, a pacemaker transmitter. Does anyone know a company that I could donate this Pacemaker Transmitter to for this family?

Used Pacemakers....

Hi Joanna,
It is my understanding that pacemakers cannot be re-used in humans, however, they might be acceptable for veterinary use. You might call a local emergency animal clinic where they would most likely see a dog or cat that needs a PM. It would be a shame not to be able to donate it as the family wishes. Maybe even a third-world country? It would take some researching on the familys part. Sure do hope you find a good use for it. God bless you for going the extra mile in this case!

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
Leased or owned

You may check to see if the transmitter was owned or leased by the deceased. Often times the EP doctor or clinic will supply the patient with a transmitter with the understanding that the device remains the property of the clinic or service provider. In my case I had to sign a lease agreement when the device was given to me.
